Why have we been so bad vs the clippers?

Go look at Crawford's playoff history. You will struggle to find a single series where he shot over 40% from the field. His playoff averages are trash.

That's a little dramatic. Crawford isnt that good.
This
Jazz fans see him play good against us and think he is really good.
His season stats tell a different story.

Yeah and the other X amount of games he has played he has been a below average player. Sample size of games against us is small. He has gotten lucky.
Yep

I'll tell you who worries me.... The refs. If they continue to fall for the flopping and bitching from the Clips it could make things really difficult. Touch fouls on the perimeter will be huge and I hope we can get impartial officiating.

You know who has not been bad against the Clippers? Exum. He has played some of his best games against the Clippers. I hope that trend continues in the playoffs. I think he is the only one that has had better than average games in all the 4 games against the Clippers this year.

In 4 games against the Clippers Exum:
Has put up a 158 offensive rating
His Net Rating is +53
His +/- in those 4 games is +19.7 (The only Jazz man to be positive against the Clips this year)
His True Shooting % is .733
He leads all of those categories for the Jazz against the Clippers
This is in 64 minutes against the Clippers

It is a kind of small sample size so who knows but it is a positive trend heading into the game and hopefully an indicator of how he matches up with them.

I also Mbah a Moute plays amazing defense on hayward.

ALSO, the one win we had, we had him in foul trouble.

Throw that out the window Snyder likes Mack ,he likes the slow down offense and Mack fits that.I think Clippers like the Jazz slow down offense even more though.

Everything slows down in the playoffs though. Might bode well that we've been playing that way all season.

That said I see Crawford as our kryptonite. He is one who, if he gets going, we have no answer for.

This! Crawford joins the long list of guys who just eat Jazz fans' souls. Eddie Johnson, Ricky Pierce, Terry Teagle, every San Antonio Spur since 1999, etc.

I actually think this series will come down to bench play. If Hill, Hood, Hayward, Favors and Gobert are starting/healthy, that means we have one of the deepest benches in the league.

Jamal Crawford LUCKY against the Jazz?! Now I've heard all the excuses here LOL. Look at the game he snatched from the Jazz grasps at the end of last season, there was nothing lucky about that, it was I'm better than you and there's nothing you can do to stop it, and they couldn't.

Look at his season stats. He doesn't worry me. He will play back down to his averages.

Not against us he won't. Even in games with George Hill playing, we've struggled against shooting point guards. Wasn't it just a couple of nights ago that Damian Lillard had his career high 59 points against Utah? Every time you look point guards are going off against the Jazz;

* Isaiah Thomas had 29 points, and 15 assists.
* Westbrook was clutch against us all season.
* Goran Dragic had 27 points vs us and the Heat win.
* Eric Bledsoe scores 31 vs the Jazz.
* Etc, etc, etc.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Crawford was the Clips leading scorer in at least 2 of their games vs us.

Crawford isn't a point guard.

This sort of cherry picking isn't useful. What about the nights when Utah shut down other guards? When Portland played in Utah, for instance, Lillard had one of his worst games of the season. The defense was pretty good against him that night.

This is actually part of the problem. Our general defense is solid, our interior defense is exemplary, but our individual defense on great or even just streaky players is spotty, especially wings. If the supporting cast can put some clamps down on the Crawfords and Rivers et al then we really have a shot at it, but if it lets up as it has far too often this seaons we may be in for a short series and not in a good way.

We've seen Ingles step in to provide some one on one defense to close games. Wonder how that will work in the playoffs.

Ingles has been a real bright spot. Such a smart and heady player, really makes up for lower athleticism and maximizes what he brings to the table. I am just afraid that in the pressure cooker of the playoffs his physical short-comings will be exploited, but he might surprise us again. I sure hope so.

Lillard, thomas, westbrook, dragic, Bledsoe would all worry me. They are all better players than crawford.

Crawford will come back to his averages in this series. He doesn't worry me. (Chris Paul and griffin sure do though. Again, they are really good)
