What's new

Why I want the Jazz to lose tonight.

I LOATHE Al and Corbin. And I feel bad because I don't know if both are the problem. I wouldn't be surprised if only one was, but neither will do anything to change.

I hate what Al/Corbin have turned Jazz basketball into.
Both are the problem. I was very upset when the coaching job was given to Ty. As much as I respect Sloan for all he did for the Jazz, it was time to go in a different direction. Basketball has evolved in 25 years, but the Jazz offense and defense hasn't. Ty is using the same basic model as Jerry did, with very small adjustments. The Jazz need fresh ideas. But they'll never get any with Corbin as coach. And it's an absolute travesty what is happening with Favors and Kanter. Now if Jefferson and Millsap are traded, then perhaps I understand them playing so much. But I doubt there is that kind of thinking by the FO and coaching staff. It's just a continuation of the Sloan philopsophy by his protege, Ty.

Mo - I agree with what you said. The smart thing to do is probably let Al walk, but that terrifies me because the Jazz might do something dumb like resign Al.

I LOVE Jazz basketball.

I cannot watch Al play. I usually tune in around the start of the second quarter, put the kids down for bed around the end of halftime and get back to the game mid-third.

Ironiclly this is why I don't post in any gamethreads during the game. All the constant bitching about how players people don't like are getting playing time. All the whining about watching Al work in the post, even when he's dominating, because people seem to find old school post scoring boring. All the whining about how the young guys aren't on the court every minute people are watching tv.

This is the only fanbase, that has this ridicoulous sense of entitlement, where people feel that because a player's game doesn't appeal to them, they deserve not to see that player. Doesn't matter if we're moving up the playoff ladder, as long as someones game doesn't appeal to them, they won't watch. And sorry to inform you, but "jazz basketball" isn't some concept that remains constant regardless of the changing players and coaching staff, it's something that's created by the players on the court, and the coaching staff, during a particular season. The "Jazz basketball" in 04 was completley different than the Jazz basketball in 08. As the players change, "Jazz basketball" changes. And this is the current "Jazz basketball", based on an inside-out attack, a lot of post play, a slow pace, and an energetic and aggresive bench. If you don't want to watch this, go send a letter to Koc, and enlighten him with your ridiculous way of thinking. And make sure to tell him why a player shouldn't play, because you don't like him.

Never!,,, I will post here and scream from trades and loses.

And that is fine. Just don't try to hose those of us that want to see the Jazz excell.

I want more time for Favors, Kanter and Burks. I want Corbin to go. I want Al to go. I get it and I agree.

However like Cyrone said. I just can't root for them to lose. I too am to much of a junkie.

The last game was an absolute embarrassment.

The game before was pathetic.

IF the Jazz go out and lose again, it might be enough to get management to do something.

Nothing but losses has any hope of making this team better.

Nothing but bad losses will make the team better, quicker.

Um, I think most people's problem with the Jazz is that they are stuck playing 1950's basketball, where you dump it into a big guy, everyone stand around and wait until he shoots the ball.

You can rant all you want, but this point wasn't very good.

Also, you talk about a slow pace, post play style of play. The only problem is, that doesn't work if you don't play defense. If your opponent scores a layup with 15 seconds left in the shot clock, you take up all 24 secs and don't score, you are still down 2-0. If this happens for a prolonged period of time, you are down 50 (see the Houston game).

If Al is such a great player, why was he traded to Utah for crap?

Ahhhhhh...one more loss equals one game closer to Al being gone.

Every win takes us one step closer to Al being resigned.

Anybody not agree with me yet?

Just think, had the Jazz lost a ton before the deadline, things would be completely different now.

The only way to rid us of these joke of "vets" is for the Jazz to lose.

No they dont agree with you. Did you not see the ridiculous ra ra **** after the deadline? Poor owner, gm, and coach. They will never strive for anything more than medicore. Took me way too many years to figure that out.

Good point. Harpring actually asked Lindsey some tough questions during the GS game. Lindsey of course dodged them to some degree. The actions of the front office this off-season will really tell us the whole story. If they try hard to re-sign both Al and Paul then they are content to be an 8th seed playoff team with no chance at contending for a title. If they sign one of the guys then this could be seen as a positive if it means they want to ease Kanter into the starting lineup the following year. If they sign neither guy then it will be really interesting. I won't criticize them at this given time for not making a deal if it meant making a bad deal just to make one. I am not sure that was the case. Anyway, I will revisit this in the off-season when the fates of Paul and Al have been shown to us.

Except he was correct. This team won just enough games to prevent the FO from making any changes. They won just enough to keep this team together. If they had played poorly during the stretch following the loss to Houston the FO would have been forced to make a change of some sort.
