Why No Burks?

I think it just really outlines the lack of trust Q has in AB. Alec could have taken about 8-10 mins from Royce, and I feel like he should have, imo. X was fine for the most part, after analysing his game after work yesterday.

What gets me about AB is that he is absolutely athletic enough to be a good perimeter defender, whilst being fully aware that that isn't always a factor, jingles being a good example.

I still feel like he does a disservice to himself by being so agile, but not utilising it defensively. Just shows how much of basketball is in the mind.

It seemed like he had righted the ship in the middle of the season. Locke I think said he was playing with a wider stance and wider base and it was making all the difference. I know QS sees things we don't so there is a reason AB is doing viscious pine.

A couple things.

Burks had a stretch of games earlier this year when everyone (even cy) was singing his praises.

Burks also was playing big minutes for the first part of our big winning streak.

Burks defense this year was much much better than years past.
It was like 6 games then he reverted back to the Burks we know and dislike. He's not a winning player for this team and would have made no difference in that game.

I really disagree with this. Burks is an established NBA player, Royce looks like the second coming of Chris Johnson. I really hope he proves me wrong, I just don’t see it with Royce.

I don't know what you see in burks. I see a guy who doesn't play defense and stops the ball. A guy who can't shoot and is a poor finisher around the rim. I see a guy who struggles to make good basketball plays, and may struggle to find another contract in the nba. I'd be surprised if O'neal doesn't outlast him in the league.

Burks is playing with no confidence, 2nd guessing himself constantly and not playing on his usual instincts.

He needs a new environment for sure. I still think he has a lot to offer, just not with the Jazz.

Yep. Burks and Exum similar reality. I was hoping both would have a place in the Jazz rotation moving forward.

Agreed. And there are times now when I would rather him on the floor than Royce.

I feel bad for the guy, I really do. I feel he brings us something special, sadly it's not as consistent as we all would like

Burks is an established NBA benchwarmer. The only thing established is that Royce O’Neale is clearly ahead of Burks in the rotation. It’s not just that Burks is constantly injured or lacks B-ball IQ, it’s that he never got good at or developed a single basketball skill.
Heck, I bet that if Burks had only ever lifted weights from draft day until now he could find minutes with his current skill set. As it stands, Exum can probably beat him in an arm wrestling contest.

He doesn't fit unfortunately. Everyone on the team except him plays tough defense and smart/unselfish offense. Too unfortunate because he's extremely athletic and talented.
