Why settle? Tonight’s draft-buy picks/move up

If a pick only costs around 1.5-1.8 mill then I don't see a reason for the Jazz to not offer 2 mill and try to get it it done. We've been selling 2nd rounders for a while. Should have some cash saved for a situation like this.

The Celtics have 3 first round picks-14, 20, 22. I would highly doubt they keep all three. That would be a lot of rookies for a team that will try to compete for a championship. Teams that are trying to get into first round better call Danny Ainge.

Would Atlanta do #35 for Favs? They have up to $26M in space to take on Favs and already did one salary dump type trade... would still have some maneuverability under the cap if something else came up... the teams that need to clear space have kinda done it at this point.

If the Jazz move Favors, it will be for a significant player like a Gallinari-level guy.

My jazz offseason moves.
Sign Marcus Morris to the MLE
Trade Favors for an early 2nd round pick and a veteran big.
Sign Terrance Ross to a 3 year 15 mil per year.

Conley/Exum
Mitchell/Ross
Ingles/O’Neale/Martin
Morris/Niang/Paschall
Gobert/Veteran Big/Bradley

Early 2nd round pick (Eric Paschall)

#53 pick (Cody Martin )

Maybe they sign someone significant with the cap space they clear in that deal... and get #35 too... I mostly agree with you.

Hopefully we can buy an early second rounder and get someone to help our bench depth. I think someone like Paschall or Windler could contribute right away.

Here are the names Tony Jones mentioned in his Q&A

Eric Paschall, Dylan Windler, Carsen Edwards, Terrence Davis, Talen Horton-Tucker, Cam Johnson if he is still around

He also said that they would try to use a future 2nd and cash, but that pick 53 MIGHT be moved if that is what teams want. I think it's possible we draft twice in the 2nd round tonight. I bet the dream is Paschall at 33 or 34 and Jordan Bone at 53.

That doesn’t make any sense. LAC would be looking to offload more salary if they’re salary-dumping Gallinari, which Favors doesn’t help with. In fact, it over-complicates **** since Favors would count as $0 for outgoing salary while the Jazz’s incoming salary would have to essentially match.

The particulars of how Favors’ deal works in a trade makes it very diffficult in really any scenario except for picks to a team with space.

If we somehow got Paschall and then a potential piece like Bone tonight that would be incredible
