Will the Jazz Make a Trade on Draft Day?

Just curious where you think value lies in this scenario (not that the Jazz should consider it, there are surely better options) -- trying to gauge what it costs to deal with OKC these days:

Ingles and Bogey to OKC for Kenrich Williams and Gabriel Deck. Would save Jazz about $25 million. Combined with offloading Favors may allow for use of full MLE, if I'm not mistaken, along with re-signing Conley.

What kind of draft picks should be attached to the deal (flowing in what direction)?
I would very much like to get Williams but am thinking much smaller. Favs & 30 for Williams and a second round pick... they would likely swap some of their seconds for 30 if there is something there they want. It might just end up as Favs & 30 for 36 and 55. Might be wishful thinking to get 36. If they are able to use 16, 18, and one of their picks in the 30s to move up they may want to do Favs & 30 for Williams (maybe Roby) so they can get a pick back.

Ideally you want to send someone that values Favs as a player so they are giving you some value in the trade for that.. OKC its just a cap maneuver so you are treating him as dead money which nets the lowest return imo.

Pelicans have a lot of cap space to absorb salary and are looking for veteran help.

Just call em... call em everyday. Bojan for #17? I'd try to sneak #35 too.

I heard a rumor they may try and do a sign and trade of Ball for Brogdon... would make yesterday's cap dump kinda silly since they could have done that deal either way.

Locke talked about a potential Favors deal and implied we trade Favors and our first and receive a second in return. I think that's the most likely scenario. He mentioned Herb Jones as a guy he likes, but it seemed to come from his own analysis so I wouldn't #LockeWatch it.

Yeah, I understand all this. My question was more theoretical than designed to optimize things from the Jazz POV.

I was just mainly wondering for teams trying to shed salary (not saying the Jazz should) with otherwise useful, decently compensated players (Ingles and Bogey for argument sake) , what the OKC premium is for using their cap space as a clearing house that would allow them to be later moved to a team with that could use them, a team that would have a hard time directly dealing with the Jazz because of salary matching issues.

Would OKC even entertain giving up draft picks in such a case? I know their pattern has typically been to try to pick up draft assets on both sides.

Presti gets a pick before he takes the call... its just how bizness works in OKC.

I'm fine with this I suppose. It isn't sexy at all but that's a reasonable price.

I think they will look to trade. They need to move salary and will try to cash in on guys that have value. I think Favors and Ingles will have some value around the league.

They couldn't do Ball (at $18 a year) for Bojan and Favors until they made that trade....

lol....

Ummm... read better. It might be Ball for Malcolm Brogdon. Which is absolutely something they could have done without clearing those salaries. Its just a rumor I heard from Zach Lowe on a pod.

I voted that we’ll move down/out. But I have a weird feeling that we have a trade-up target that we’re keeping under wraps… So all of this really means that we’re going to stand pat and pick at 30 lol

Garuba has to excite the Jazz. Jalen Johnson probably would too.

Johnson is such a hard prospect to evaluate. Sometimes you can see the crazy potential and see why he’s worth the risk. Other times it looks like he can barely stand on his feet. And his jumper is heinous. I don’t think I saw two jumpers that looked the same.

He rebounds, he defends, he handles, he's athletic. You start with that, unless you really believe he won't ever be able to shoot it.

If your flaws are catastrophic as a shooter then you can bet money they won't be able to shoot at an NBA level.

For those that go from zeroes to functional NBA shooters, they are the exceptions that prove the rule. This idea that the league is comprised of "talented" athletes that learned the basics of basketball after being drafted is a fantasy.

I’d rather move 30 and Favors for a second rounder than move Bojan to move up.
Oh for sure, but moving Favors only saves you 9 million in salary plus w/e the tax savings are. Is that really enough? If it is, I'm 100% cool with it.

I would change my vote to move back/out if I could. Fully expecting the Jazz to not draft til the 40's this year.
