What's new

With the 47th Pick, Kevin Murphy

I like the pick, but am not head-over-heels. But that's usually where you're at at #47 and on.

You do what you can with what you got. But, ****ty.

By midseason, he will be a board favorite just like Fes, Wesley Matthews, Jeremy Evans, and every other "who the hell is that" pick/undrafted signing.

Having watched the videos, read about, and listened to the various interviews (Murphy, KOC, Corbin) I've come to the conclusion that this guy might be able to help us a great deal.

- Our 3pt shooting was the main concern last year. This is his STRENGTH. We've asked for it - we've got it.
- Our mid range shooting was also poor (with the exception of Millsap).
- He'll be able to come off those curls and really help us knock down a lot of those 'sitters'.
- He's 6'6 - so it's not like he won't be able to compete against legit NBA SG.

If he can imitate even 80% of the kind of success that Matthews was able to achieve - I think we'll be pleased with him at the #47 spot. Both were seniors. Matthews went undrafted. Both are known for their shooting abilities rather than their physicality.

I guess what I'm saying is that there is a template there and he seems to me to have all the tools needed to be successful.

Here's hoping for the best.

Cough cough, Mathews played PF for an undersized Marquette. Team people had questions about his ability to shoot and if he was quick enough to guard two's in the NBA. Obviously he proved everyone wrong by improving his shooting and guarding NBA wings. There were no questions about his toughness or strength. Murphy and Matthews are completely different players.

Matthews is 6'5" 220lb. Murphy is 6'7" 195 lb.

IMO Matthews also has superior athletic ability. All this doesn't mean Murphy can't succeed. Only that a Matthews comparison is a poor one.

I have been physically ill all night watching what might have been. I really wish I never gave up drinking. Utah could have seriously stacked the deck for years to come. Instead, we have to have pretty much everything work out just right, or we will be stuck on the treadmill of mediocrity for years to come.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh SHUT UP

Ahhhhhhhhhhh SHUT UP

This. Do people realize that teams were shopping Pau Gasol and James Harden to get top 5 picks, and they came up empty as well. Before the new CBA lottery picks already had a premium on them, and then when the new CBA was signed, that just made them even more valuable. The only move in the lottery was HOU & MIL which was basically a swap of picks. It seems like it was almost impossible to get into the lottery this year.

I still think that KOC will move either Paul or Al this offseason, so let's wait and see what he does.

You did not specify that in the original offer, and I provided a quality player assessment.

This shall not be forgotten.

Maybe a compromise, he will drop his rep power to an appropriate level for the amount of game you watched... rep you, and then put it back to where it was?

Does this work?

A complete waste of a pick. We have Hayward at the 2. And Burks. And this guy looks like a chucker who's a 2 and 2 only. We don't need him taking shots away from Favors and Co. (please) shoot me. I just wasted the last four hours of my life.

Cy--You act as if any shooter is going to save us. Newsflash. This guy will never start for us nor be on the floor in any important situation so it doesn't matter. Just shoot me now.

I know who will shoot you.................................................. Kevin Murphy.

Cmon... you had to have seen that coming.

All of this is not untrue. My point was I don't want to think about missing out on Lillard, Marshall, or whoever.

I was also hoping for Machado, but will give the kid a chance......... because I have to.
It's either that or whine like a baby.

Missing out on Lillard is the only thing that really upset me, but he was picked 6th and I really didn't think the Jazz had enough pieces to move up and get him if he went that early. I thought we might have had an outside chance of getting Marshall if he slipped to one of the Houston picks, but he didn't.

Other than that we missed out on a lot of ok starting PF's. If you needed a big men for your team, this draft was a godsend.

Just for perspective I've been looking at the Cavs page over on the Browns board and it's on fire. They could have had JV, Robinson and a bunch of flyers coming in this year. Instead they have TT, Waiter and Zeller. Obviously you never know but the odds are not good that this group is going to be better than option 1 above, especially considering the players available with those 3 later picks they had.

I'll take KOC all day long over Grant.

Jonas + Robinson > Waiters + Thompson

By a lot too.
