Having watched the videos, read about, and listened to the various interviews (Murphy, KOC, Corbin) I've come to the conclusion that this guy might be able to help us a great deal.
- Our 3pt shooting was the main concern last year. This is his STRENGTH. We've asked for it - we've got it.
- Our mid range shooting was also poor (with the exception of Millsap).
- He'll be able to come off those curls and really help us knock down a lot of those 'sitters'.
- He's 6'6 - so it's not like he won't be able to compete against legit NBA SG.
If he can imitate even 80% of the kind of success that Matthews was able to achieve - I think we'll be pleased with him at the #47 spot. Both were seniors. Matthews went undrafted. Both are known for their shooting abilities rather than their physicality.
I guess what I'm saying is that there is a template there and he seems to me to have all the tools needed to be successful.
Here's hoping for the best.
I have been physically ill all night watching what might have been. I really wish I never gave up drinking. Utah could have seriously stacked the deck for years to come. Instead, we have to have pretty much everything work out just right, or we will be stuck on the treadmill of mediocrity for years to come.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh SHUT UP
My personal theory is we get the midget from Marquette as compensation for the Mo deal.
You did not specify that in the original offer, and I provided a quality player assessment.
This shall not be forgotten.
A complete waste of a pick. We have Hayward at the 2. And Burks. And this guy looks like a chucker who's a 2 and 2 only. We don't need him taking shots away from Favors and Co. (please) shoot me. I just wasted the last four hours of my life.
Cy--You act as if any shooter is going to save us. Newsflash. This guy will never start for us nor be on the floor in any important situation so it doesn't matter. Just shoot me now.
All of this is not untrue. My point was I don't want to think about missing out on Lillard, Marshall, or whoever.This. Do people realize that teams were shopping Pau Gasol and James Harden to get top 5 picks, and they came up empty as well. Before the new CBA lottery picks already had a premium on them, and then when the new CBA was signed, that just made them even more valuable. The only move in the lottery was HOU & MIL which was basically a swap of picks. It seems like it was almost impossible to get into the lottery this year.
I still think that KOC will move either Paul or Al this offseason, so let's wait and see what he does.
Yes. PLEASE.
In all seriousness, this thought has crossed my mind but don't want to jinx it.
Just for perspective I've been looking at the Cavs page over on the Browns board and it's on fire. They could have had JV, Robinson and a bunch of flyers coming in this year. Instead they have TT, Waiter and Zeller. Obviously you never know but the odds are not good that this group is going to be better than option 1 above, especially considering the players available with those 3 later picks they had.
I'll take KOC all day long over Grant.
Jonas + Robinson > Waiters + Thompson
By a lot too.
I told those guys the Cavs were fools to pass on JV last year. Of course I thought we were too.
