Woj: Joe Ingles is finalizing deal to return to the Utah Jazz

Talk a out over spending. Patty mills was less then that. Utah jazz owners and gm are happy just being a middle of THE pack team. I feel sorry for You jazz fans that your team doesn't care about results.Guess that normal being then only team in town
Hmmm...must be that new math I've being hearing about.
Utah tied for the 5th best record in the league. Were there only 10 teams, cuz that would be middle of the pack?

Oh wait, your Buttgets had the 18th best record. Guess you can say they weren't "middle of the pack;" they were actually below it.

But take heart, they'll again be competing for the 8th seed. Might even make it this year.

Can you imagine Joe taking it to Hayward 2 times a year? Must watch NBA action.

Joe only signed with the jazz without entertaining other offers because he knew already that Hayward is signing with the jazz.
They are very good friends, and have the same agent.
I doubt he signs with the jazz, especially without looking at what other teams offer him, if there is a chance hayward leaves.

Hayward ain't going anywhere.

I hope you're right. Or maybe Joe just really loves it here, and knows his staying put will be a positive for Gordon staying as well. Either way it's good for the Jazz.

The Jazz seem to have front-loaded the Joe Ingles' contract and he will be getting $14,14M in the first year. The last year will be about 12M if we assume 5% decreases.

? The contract was 52/4, right?

If we are paying him 14 this year, then how are we paying him 12 in the final year?

With 5% decreases.

Year 1: $14,136,364.00
Year 2: $13,429,545.00
Year 3: $12,722,727.00
Year 4: $12,015,909,00
---------------------------
--------$52,304,545.00

Not exactly 52, but it will be thereabout if the number on ESPN's site is correct.

I love front-loaded contracts, and wish the Jazz would have done them even more--especially over the past few years when they had cap space.

What are the rules for front-loading?

You can increase or decrease the salary by maximum of 8% per year for incumbent team or 5% for another team(I think those are the new numbers in the new CBA, before they were 4.5% and 7.5% if I'm not mistaken).

Declining salary is a solid move if true.
