I think Ainge is perfectly willing to not touch the other team's win-now pieces and instead focus on the draft capital. Look at the Gobert deal. Once McDaniels was off-the-table he pivoted towards more picks. I think it's very possible when we trade Mitchell we trade him for tons of picks and nothing else of value... maybe some expiring/filler. So in some of those cases, Ainge won't ask the other team to get worse in the short term. The choice will be now vs the future.Does a contender want Don the same way the Wolves wanted Gobert though?
That's my issue. I think the Jazz's asking price is so high that no contender is going to talk themselves into Mitchell because he's overrated, so what is needed to get him will make your team worse in the short and long run.
