Would Jerry work for Shaq??

Wow. I like Shaq (post Lakers) but there's no way I see him even being half the GM Jordan is, which says quite a bit.

Forget Jerry, I would crack up if Shaq gets the job. His phone will never stop ringing by all the piranhas looking to fleece him. I pray this happens.

I'm extremely dubious about Shaq as GM material myself. With zero leadership right now, I suspect the Magic are just fishing for ideas on how to deal with Howard.
I wouldn't say they HATE each other, but Shaq has taken a few verbal jabs at Howard, and Howard was less than pleased. Nothing that couldn't be patched up, as far as I know...

Apparently they both hate Stan Van Gundy, so they are on good terms now. It'd be funny to see Shaq bend over backwards to get Blake Griffin, but I highly doubt this will happen.

You owe it to them to let them know you're dubious. Do the right thing.

Hmmm. Interesting tidbit I had not read before; Shaq is now Dr. Shaquille O'Neal, Ph.D....

LOL; an ol' country boy like Jerry could NEVER deal with that!
Seriously though, congrats to Shaq for pursuing his education and getting that PhD!

Please let this happen, if for no other reason than to get Shaq off of Inside the NBA. His only contribution to that show is: during highlights if someone performs a "highlight" Shaq's go to move is to loudly drag out the name of the player in an annoying tone.

Shaq would be a horrible GM because of his long and storied history of lack-of-focus. Dude's brain is a pinball machine.

You can get away with it when you're the biggest, strongest guy on the floor, but there's no way he could buckle down and be the serious analyst he would need to be.

That being said, HIRE HIM, Orlando!

He does have a PhD, I think that takes a brain a bit bigger than a pinball machine, no?

I think Shaq has a smart basketball mind, I just find him incredibly boring on TNT.

I don't claim to know how bright Shaq is, but my theory is that athletes who dominate because they are bigger, stronger, faster, or just more talented, usually aren't the brightest minds in the game. Look at most of the great coaches in the game, and I can't think of one that was a dominant athlete. Most were adequate athletes, but they survived because they figured out how the game works. Look at Phil, Jerry, Adelman, Doc Rivers (I never saw either Van Gundy play, but I think I have a pretty good idea what it would have looked like).

On the flip side, think of all the players who dominated when they played and then tried to either coach or be a GM: Jordan, Isaiah, Magic, Elgin, etc. (Jerry West & The Legend are the only ones I can think of who succeeded at both) - I'm sure there's more that I'm missing and I'll be lambasted for it.

This is why I'm totally fine with the host of "Through My Eyes" never coaching for the Jazz.
