Would we accept #4 for Gordon Hayward?

Pure speculation obviously, but it really makes sense for the Knicks to build around Melo with current talent, not potential. Melo + Hayward + 1 big FA signing would make them instantly relevant and with good signings next seasons when the cap explodes, who knows what would happen.

How about Utah? Would we accept #4 for our star player? I really have no idea. On the one hand, it would be nice to just do away with the speculation about what Gordon is going to do in 2 seasons when he can terminate his deal. A new great rookie would also make it ok to give the reigns to Exum @ PG since we would not be aiming for he play offs next season.

I would need more than that to part with Hayward

If Russell fell to 4, you'd have to at least consider it. Since it's most likely Mudiay, I'd say no chance. Utah has a chance to make an impact this year, so I'm hoping the FO gets aggressive in trying to improve the team and make a run at the playoffs. I'd rather hope for building a team strong enough that Hayward would have to think twice before leaving. His next contract is going to be insane though, so depending on how the team does and how Hayward performs, this might be something to revisit next year.

No it would take the #1 to make me even sit down and think about it. Here are players taken at #4 in the last 9 years: A.Gordon, Zeller, Waiters, T. Thompson, W.Johnson, T.Evans, Westbrook, Conley, T.Thomas
Hayward is better than 8/9. Still like the trade?

No. Hayward has improved every year he's been in the league and finally looks happy and comfortable. Let him continue to grow into his role as a leader of this team.

This team wasn't that good with Hayward out of the lineup. Why would you even think about trading our best player for a prospect? So we can rebuild for another year or two?

The real problem is that regardless of value I think the rest of the team, specifically favors and burks would feel like you gave up on this iteration of the jazz.

Lol. That trade would set the Jazz back at least three years. Then by the time the Jazz are about ready to contend our core players would be looking at free agency. Plus Mello and Hayward is a horrible match. Both need the ball to be effective.

Sure, then we could all look forward to making the playoffs somewhere around 2018-2020.

Gordon Hayward is what you hope a 4th pick will become... some day... maybe... I don't think there are enough surefire stars in this draft to trade him for #4.

Trading Hayward, our most developed player, and one of our only 3 offensive players on the damn team, would be a huuuge step backwards.
