Zach Lowe tells Utah (and a couple other teams) what to do in free agency

What you aren't understanding is that we NEED the playmaking capabilities from Burks. We were 25TH last year in league offense. We need to maximize the offensive potential of all our players. Putting Burks in a different position, and asking him to spend tons of energy guarding players his frame isn't built for (IMO) neuters this. Hayward already has a ****-ton of playmaking capabilities-- that's precisely the problem in fact. He needs help. Badly. Hood's emergence helps, and Burks could put everything over the top. This is of extreme importance given the state of offense from our current PG play.

No, I get that. But I also don't fully buy into the whole he will be to tired argument. I wouldn't mind him having some time at the 1 but not the 70% your throw around. For example, I would not have Burks guarding Paul when we play the Clips but Burks can certainly play some one when the Jazz play teams with slower PGs. I will leave that up to Snyder though as he knows far more than any of us do.

But none of this has anything to really do with my post quoting yours where you intentionally (I know you're smart enough to know what NAOS meant) missed the point. It was never a direct Harper-Burks comparison. Beyond that I am not really taking either side as I think you are both to extreme in your position.

Hmm, interesting. Green decides to stick with his own team, seeing as his one-dimensional offensive game is utilized better by their system than any other teams in the league. Not to mention the fact that he was a well-carved role, doesn't have to fight 8 wings for minutes, and has a great coaching staff.

Shocked he didn't come to the Jazz.

Why are you gloating about the Jazz losing in FA?

Also, the Spurs made room to go after Aldridge and keep Green. They didn't do it because Green isn't valuable.

Can't ****ing wait to see Burke drop 20ppg this season ;)

If Burke is averaging 20 ppg then he is taking 20+ shots and the Jazz lose games as a result. I certainly can wait to see that. I can wait a long, long time.

Well, I'm out on this topic. My wish-list was very short and now no longer exists. #letthefruitrotonthevine

Hey NOASS, the mark my ******* slap left on your forehead looks fuggin siiiiiiiick bro

I don't even remember talking to you about this stuff. Glad it was so intense and memorable for you, though.

wait..... what is it that you feel so correct about?

So, the best way to utilize Burks' playmaking ability is to take the ball out of his hands and let him work off-ball. Are you Ty Corbin?

Give him the damn ball.

You seem to have a firm grasp of who he defends best. Care to post those stats? Tia

The logic of tardfanz:

The jazz didn't get DeMarre or Danny Green. Therefore, they didn't try to get them. Therefore, I am right that cakks be baking.

To be fair there is no indication from anyone, anywhere that the Jazz made any effort to sign those players. Now we will never truly know but it is a fair assumption.

As for "cake baking" it is still to soon to tell imo.

All the tier 2 wings are pretty much gone, or rumored to be gone.

Last hope of adding an upper tier talent might be Tobias Harris if Sap goes to the Magic.

just gloating about my logic.

lol

The Spurs were able to free up cap space. Green wants to stay on a contender. This has nothing to do with wether he would fit on the Jazz. You think DL didn't call him. We lost and it has nothing to do with "Burks 70% at the 1 blah".

Trading players by February allows for more cake-baking, especially important to Alec Burks who essentially has not played any large stretch of minutes for Quin.

Also, the 70% comes from every proposition that has the wing minute allotment with Alec playing 20 minutes at the 1, and 8-10 minutes at the 2. 70%.

It allows for more cake baking but severely limits the players we could go get as all the free agents will be signed.

I wouldn't mind waiting for the free agency bargain bin at the end of free agency... I'd look for a guy like Jerebko... or like John Jenkins on a small deal. Quin would know if he has any promise left.

If Millsap goes he's totally available right? No way they match with the roster cluster eff they'd have and a coach that has already clashed.

Still have to compete with other teams and convince him to come off the bench and be our super sub, but he would help us play different styles. I hope we are in on that conversation.
