Kanter 30 Pts and 16 Rebs... And Now the Rest of the Story...

Unfortunately, I think they still make the playoffs. I figured NO might be able to catch them at this point, which they did, but OKC finishes with home games against Sac and Por and road games at Ind and Min. Should be 4 wins.

New Orleans has home games against Pho and SA and road games at Mem , Hou and Min. M ost likely, IMO, is 3-2. They are one up in the loss column and own the tiebreaker, though, so any loss by OKC would be huge.

It would say something solid about Kanter's defense and effect to winning if they won't make it to postseason though. It is going to look like Kanter has the ability to tackle his own team out of the playoff race in such little time. Probably has too.

I just cannot believe how ironic what Kanter said about OKC being a playoff team and now they could potentially missed the playoffs for the first time in years.

It's kinda like he jinxed it.

Gold.

Although, jinx is something that is not concrete. It is something of a belief, that cannot actually be seen, heard or touched. Like Kanter's defense.

I listened to it three times to make sure I heard it right.

At the 6:52 mark in the 2nd quarter of the Spurs/Thunder game, while Kanter was shooting FT's, Chris Webber had this to say:

"He (Kanter) is gonna have to work on defense, he played a different style of defense in Utah, if they played any at all."

What

LOL .. I've got a confession.. every time I see your name I think "He must be an OKC fan" .. you know like KD = Kevin Durant????

Chris Webber has no clue about what he is talking about. Forget about him.

Isn't he? Isn't that abbreviation refers to Durant?

Also, one day, I saw KD's Framily's nick as it is written and I thought it was an alt created to pick on the actual poster because up to that point, I thought the actual nick was KD's Family!

Hahahaha. Over on RealGM an OKC forum mod is arguing with Nate and I that Kanter is not to blame, even partially, for OKC's dramtic drop, bad D and losing record over the last couple weeks. Still int he honeymoon phase

SMH...

This from the man who will always be known for calling a timeout when they didn't have any left. :)

Aww, let them enjoy it for a few weeks. If they re-sign him, they'll have plenty of time to realize the big mistake they made. :)

The guy probably has a point. Probably has way more to due with the loss of Ibaka and Westbrook wearing down.

A point that was not denied like his denial that Kanter has any blame in their horrible D. Having kanter on that team right now is throwing gas on a fire.

I like how their fans intend to make Kanter their "Super sixth man!" off the bench. Please pay him 15 million per then put him on the bench, cause that would be awesome from an entertainment perspective AND increase our chances of moving up the league standings.

So is losing a player who masked some of Kanter's miserable defense the reason they are losing, or is it Kanter's miserable defense itself.

Here's another question...if Kanter were the one out and Ibaka were playing, would the Thunder still be losing? It's a very small sample size but the one there is it appears they wouldn't be.

OKC's opponent PPG was 98 before Kanter and 108 after Kanter. I get that they lost Ibaka during most of this time, but c'mon, that is a crazy difference. How could he not be at least partially to blame?

In the 9 games OKC has played with both Kanter and Ibaka the Thunder are still giving up 106.3 PPG, which is almost the same as what they're giving up without Ibaka but with Kanter.

Clearly the injuries hurt. But the fact remains that Kanter is doing nothing to make the pain from those injuries any better for OKC.

I think this is the crux of the matter.

Damn, I'm so glad we got rid of him, LOL ...

Ibaka makes opponent miss at least ten points every game so those games would be around 115 allowed if he was not on. High paced no defense game without the stars that take most of the playing time is the best situation Kanter can get.
