Scanning the Waiver Wire

Does anyone think DL will be scanning the waiver wire when teams cut their rosters to see if someone in a position of need is available. Of course I'm thinking of point guard but there could be someone there who could be viewed as an upgrade at one of the other positions as well.

No, he's sitting in his bedroom watching Netflix until next offseason....

Such an idiotic post. Of course he is watching. He is constantly picking up and dropping playings that are the 12th+ on the team. Jingles....

I think, whoever we end up keeping at the end of the roster, will end up getting cut before their guarantee date. I think it will be another year of a number of 10 day contracts before we settle on who we like for the rest of the year at cheap.

What made me think of looking at the waiver wire was today's article about Jimmer in the Deseret News and all the talent in the Spurs camp and that he and Rasaul Butler were fighting for the last roster spot. I'm sure there are other teams who might have to cut a decent player.

Geeze man lol its not that bad of a question. I have been wondering the same question.

Most players at the end of the bench suck.

Most players artsy the end of the bench don't sell tickets and merchandise though

Well you have fun reading all the whining from the BYU fans about how their golden child isnt getting the playing time HE DESERVES!

I don't think that would happen. You are just paranoid.
We (byu fans) know that he has sucked in the nba. We also trust that snyder knows what he is doing.

This was an awesome post. First you jumped to the defense of homey for asking what you have to admit is a pretty dumb question. I mean, what are the chances that DL isn't paying attention to the waiver wire? 0%

Then in your very next sentence you pile on homey for hinting at (not actually stating) an opinion which, while stupid, is at least debatable.

And Utah is one of those teams. We're now deep enough that guys we cut may get signed by others. I don't see us going through the 10-day cycle like last year when we had Hamilton and Murray at the end of the bench and ran through a number of guys to replace them and then replace Novak and Clark later on.

I think we can agree 13 roster spots are set:
Bigs: Gobert, Favors, Booker, Lyles, Pleiss
Wings: Hayward, Hood, Burks, Ingles, Millsap (likely)
PG's: Burke, Neto, Exum

Cotton is probably safe for now as DL and QS liked how he played last season after signing. So the final roster spot comes down to Withey or Johnson, I predict Withey because he gives Utah a rim-protector to back up Rudy. Different skill set than Tibor. And Utah doesn't need a 6th wing.

PG is the only position I could see DL making a move. But I think it far more likely that would come via trade than someone who gets waived.

Good post

Good post

I really wasn't trying to make this a post about Jimmer. It was more about someone getting cut and the front office thinking "Hm this guy is better than X at the ______ position." Sort of like this pickups last year of Jingles and the guy that got waived by Toronto. The other post about Little Sap made me think the guy may not be a lock to make the team.

Ok.
My post that you quoted was saying that stifle made a good post about us not being a waver wire using team this year since our backups/depth is better now.

Weird that you quoted that post of mine when it had nothing to do with jimmer

Lol. If Jimmer was on the Jazz I guarantee that would happen. Did you hear the BYU fans cheering for him when he was on the opposition? Good God.

I'm a BYU alumnus but I in NO WAY want Jimmer on the team. He offers nothing other than merchandise sales. Give me Cotton and Neto or even Johnson over Fredette. Jimmer is a perfect fit for Europe.

I guarantee you are wrong.
Sure they would cheer for him if he got into the game. Most of us would not bitch if he were riding the pine though.

Like I said, we all recognize that he is a crappy nba player and that quin Snyder has been killing it as a coach.
We would trust in Snyder to make the right decision.

Ute fans are so paranoid

I remember a few years back the jazz had a byu player on their team that byu fans loved.
It was not a big deal. Byu fans didn't freak out about his playing time or second guess Sloan any more than anyone else.
It was fun to watch him play when he got in the game but understood his talent level and accepted that he would be kickin it on the bench allot

Yes, but you don't make up the majority of the BYU fanbase and you know it. Even among season ticket holders there is only a small percentage who pay as close of attention to what's going on with this team as you. If Jimmer was on the Jazz there are many scenarios where his fans would start chanting for him to be put in. It would create a stupid distraction that Snyder does not need.

Joe you have to realize that there is a difference between sacramento jimmer and jimmer on the jazz right?

Sacramento jimmer only comes around a couple times per year and plays on a team that jazz/byu fans don't care if they win or lose.
Of course he would get cheered (nice how you left out all the ute fans that booed him everytime he touched the ball btw).

If jimmer played for the jazz he would be here all the time so byu/jazz fans would get used to him being here, on the bench, and we wouldnt care.
Also byu/jazz fans would want the jazz to win games (unlike the kings) so we would want what is best for the team and trust Snyder to make that call.

So far me and stifle have both gave our 2 cents.

Let's see if any byu fans come into this thread and post about how they want jimmer on the jazz so bad and how he would help us win so many games and be great for the team and is just what the jazz need.

Don't hold your breath though cause I don't think it's gonna happen
