My Apologies

That is because you are not giving me much to work it. I thought that mods would moderate a thread that generated constant reports and made most of the mods not want to see it.

We did, we closed it.

Yep, by locking it but still maintaining access to it. You just ignored the thread till it became too big for you to handle.

There are numerous post that are very similar to recent ones posted but no actions were taken back then. They are still there if you want to see. It's just inconsistent moderating.

No we didn't. It has been mentioned several times that multiple posts have been "modded". How is that ignoring it?

As for inconsistent modding, perhaps. But there is no line set in stone. You don't like the way it was handled and that is fine. But it was handled.

I debated just attaching to one of the many open threads on this but decided - HEY, THEY ALL STARTED ONE, I SHOULD TOO. Seriously though, I wanted to make sure it didn't get lost.

Recently we closed a thread that had been open for years. There was always an unwritten caution on that thread indicating the pictures inside it may not be appropriate. I understood that and a handful of the moderators understood that. I stopped viewing it and I know others did as well. We have a system whereby items can be reported and it was used plenty for that thread. That's how we chose to deal with it then, again unwritten or discussed. Now, after getting a PM from someone on the site asking us to revisit the appropriate nature of the thread in whole, we discussed it. Those that got a chance a vote agreed that its time should probably be over and that it had degraded if it didn't start that way initially anyway. If anything is true, we know there is no one line when it comes to what is appropriate or inappropriate when we talk about each of us as an individual.

Thanks for the thoughtful post. I want to catch up with the rest of this thread when I have time, but I thought I'd quickly share with you that several of your moderators don't broadcast this same understanding of the nuances of rules and grey areas that surround them. Hopefully somebody has already mentioned this.

How do you figure? It has been said that there is no line set in stone, 3 mod rule to help with this...

It would take me too much time right now (I'm scrambling), but it is very possible to find posts from HotttSpazzz where each one of them is talking about how "clear" the rules are. And that'd be stuff I could find from just the past couple of days. You were more monolithic in your early days, too.

How does Jason's post here only have nine likes?

Anyone who's clicked on this, read it, and not liked it should be ashamed of themselves.

Jason and the mods, I can be a douche. I know that. And when I cross that line, I need to accept the consequences. Of all the warnings and infractions I've received over the years, I've probably really only disagreed with 2-3 of them. At the end of the day, you and the mods do what you see as best for the site and just and that obviously isn't always going to fall in line with my perception of things. I also need to accept that. Everyone else should as well.

If people aren't happy, sure post here about it. But I posted this in another thread and I'll say it again, get the **** over it people. Jason and the Modstapo do a damn good job with the hand they've been dealt (e.g., dealing with a bunch of Mormons) and I love this site. As we come upon a new season, we need to unite and build positive vibes, not negative, selfish ones, ala Trey Burke.

So let's do this. Unite together for a Jazzfanz celebration!

Also, I was joking about Mormons.

Oh, so you are familiar with all of the moderator discussions and how that thread was moderated over the course of its existence?

You're confusing not regularly visiting the thread with not moderating the thread. It was never off our radar. Any report that was received was handled. At a certain point, it was decided that the thread needed to be retired.

Moderators aren't the police. We don't patrol the board looking for wrongdoing.

I only report what I have strong opinions about. My reports have been very few. I'll play baby sitter and clean up the JFC when the need arises but I agree. We are not the police.

Jason, just want to say I very much appreciate this thread.

Thank you!
