Trade Deadline

He's not that same player or the Heat would be much better, he's declined.

I don't know if that's true. His numbers aren't the same, but he's playing in a different offense, and Wade still has a high usage rate.

I think it's more that he doesn't fit well next to Wade. But at the same time, I'm not sure he would be much different here either. We also have a slow paced offense like the Heat. On a faster paced team, and one where he was more the focal point, he might be able to go back to the Suns Dragic.

I heard oladipo is available. Is he someone we would want? I haven't watched any of the magic games to know enough about him. He plays defense right?

I doubt he's really all that available. That's probably a felonious rumor like most of them. I like Oladipo. He has star potential and will get better too. I'd go after him if he was really available. They probably just want a lot for him.

What did the rumor do?

With the trade deadline only 10 days away & Utah 1/2 game up on POR for the 8th seed & 4 games behind MEM for the 5th seed, what are your thoughts on what moves (if any) the FO should make?

Personally, I will be disappointed if they decide to stand pat. Obviously it will come down to what opportunities are available, but I view this as a critical point in our rebuild. I'm sure DL is looking at Burks' return as a sort of deadline addition, but with the team finally (reasonably) healthy & showing signs of life, now seems like the time to make a move.

IMO, not doing so would be sending the team (especially Hayward) the wrong message. I'm not suggesting that we overpay to bring in a short-term solution at PG, but it's hard not to wonder what this team could accomplish with more consistent play from the position (not to discredit Neto's solid play of late or Burke's improvement this year).

If they aren't going to use future assets to better position themselves for a playoff run this year, I strongly believe that they should seriously look to move Hayward. Acquiring the right player & making it out of the 1st round could go a long way to not only convincing him to re-sign, but do so at less than market value (max). Not doing so could result in watching him walk next year or being forced to deal him for less than his true value.

What are your thoughts? Will you be disappointed if they don't make a move at the deadline?
Nope I won't be disappointed if they don't make a move. I think it's the wrong time to make a move. I would not be upset if they traded Trey Burke, but I don't really want or expect them to do anything this trade deadline.

I would be super pissed if Exum, Favors, Hood, Gobert or Hayward were traded for anything short of an efficient superstar. since that ain't happening I'll be pissed if any of them are traded.

Doubt those 5 are in play as trade chips. But I'd also be pissed if DL caved in to Atlanta and gave them Burke PLUS Burks for Teague.

I might be okay with that. I'm not sold on Burks, he still doesn't really fit the system we run, he still stops the ball far too often, and he's still a poor defender. I just can't see a reason to do it. Teague is not likely to stay past his contract and we aren't winning it all. He doesn't really add enough of what we need to give up that much.

Burks is NOT in Utah's long term plans. He is hurt too often.

Exum isn't going anywhere. What he did last year defensively was unheard of. His efficiency on the defensive side of the ball was...legendary. Exum and Gobert are the future of the Jazz. Utah won't let either of those two get away. Utah really believes that when Exum pans out, Exum, Gobert, Favors and Hayward are the core...but Hood is changing that. I would guess Hood forces Favors out of the future. I don't see Hayward going anywhere. He is underrated. You don't let him walk. You can't find someone to do what he does.

It wouldn't shock me if Utah traded Burks and Burke for Teague. Utah just doesn't value Burks like a lot of you do.

Also, Teague's contract would run up right as Exum would be ready to take over. So, Utah lets Exum develop with Teague and play some SG, and if Exum blows up, Utah moves Teague next year. If Exum is slower coming along, Utah lets Teague walk. If Exum doesn't pan out, Teague stays.

Just what I've heard around the water cooler.

Crazy trade deadline coming....

Big players rumored on the move. Blake Griffin, Dwight howard, kevin love, Carmelo Anthony, Al Horford.

I would love to see Kanter for howard. Playing against Houston would be like playing in the all star game. Harden and Kanter all NBA first team no defense. And okc would be a hard out for GS or Spurs.

I also would like to see a deal for crymelo to land in Cleveland, but I have never cared for the hype surrounding Crymelo nor Lebron. Watching them implode would be fun. But I'd rather see love in Boston than New York.

The third trade I'd like to see is Blake Griffin to Sacramento. When I was a kid I liked to throw stuff in the fire to watch it burn, same principle here. Boogie cousins and Blake Griffin together is must see TV.

Finally, although there have been no real rumours about it, john wall to the Jazz would make my dreams come true. Sadly, I don't think Trey Burke and Tibor Pleis gets it done.

Jazz team has gelled and excelled two years in a row with 1- Trey on the Bench, and 2- Alec out with injury. I just don't know how other GMs value a chucker and an injury waiting to happen.

The chucker and injury waiting to happen is Burks. I don't how Utah moves him, but I'd be shocked if Burks stays too much longer. He doesn't bring much value at all.

Utah just doesn't value Burks like a lot of you do.

First off. It seems that the majority of jazzfanz don't value Burks much and want him traded.

Secondly, the jazz extended him to the longest contract on the entire team and last year would not shut up about how excited they were to get Burks back and how they didn't care about adding players to the team because getting Burks back would be like getting a big free agent acquisition.
Every time a jazz front office person or coach talk about burks they seem to truly love him what he brings to the team.
The jazz sorely need his scoring off the bench... That much is obvious

How would Hood force Favors out of the core? Favors is the best player on this team and plays a different position than Hood. If anything Hood is making Hayward expendable.

Latest Trade deadline chatter is Celtics wants Kevin Love and it somehow involves Carmelo.....

Yeahh.. it's ON LIKE DONKEY KONG !!!

https://amicohoops.net/2016/02/carmelo-love-at-center-of-three-team-talks/

That will be pretty messed up if they ship Love off after he was talked into staying there. Did Love not have a no trade clause of his own? I don't understand why he didn't get one of his own if he doesn't.

Adding Carmelo to the Cavs, doesn't make them better I don't think. I don't get that one. Carmelo doesn't play defense either. He would be reduced down to the same role too. This is why I think Carmelo won't waive that clause. He's more concerned with his stats than anything. He doesn't want to be suddenly averaging 16 ppg because Kyrie and Lebron are taking a ton of shots. Which is what will happen.
