Jazz watching film together

Per BTS the Jazz have been watching film together before practice lately. Great move IMO. Maybe guys will feel more accountable if they know that their terrible defensive performance is going to be shown in slow motion the next morning.

That's probably why they have been playing exceptionally as of late!

Wow, if they watch every single Jazz defensive lapse in SLOW MOTION, this could be a 10-12 hour film session...

Are you sure they are not watching the game between St. John and Rutgers just to comfort themselves that the NBA refs are not that bad?

I can't believe this is new to the team. This should have been part of the team routine to begin with. Good news.

This. Jackson and Popovich watch film with their teams all the time. They should have been doing this years ago. Players today just aren't motivated enough to do it on their own, like Sloan, Stockton and Malone and Horny would.

If we had Big East refs officiating the Jazz-Raptors game, Big Al's tip in shot would have been waived off...

I think this was brought up before....

by a certain point guard known by some as "coach killer"...

I'm pretty sure we had a thread discussing it.

Transcript of a media interview with Jazz guard Deron Williams prior to a workout Friday at the team practice facility.

Williams on what he thought about after the loss to Phoenix:
I thought about everything. Just everything.

Fixable with more practice or need to strip things down and simplify:
That's up to coach. That's up to him. I don't run practices. I'm just out here to try to keep guys together. We've got to do something. We've got to get better. There's no secret about that. What needs to be done, I don't know.

The team being together:
Yeah.

Talking to Utah's coaches about trying to restructure the offense:
Nah.

Having the ability to do so with Sloan:
I've sat down with him for the past five years.

Is there a need to:
I just don't know how much good it's going to do.

Millsap's comment about having no chemistry:
There's no chemistry. I don't know if there's no chemistry. There's chemistry but — I don't really know the word I'm looking for. There's no rhythm. No rhythm offensively or defensively. It's almost like we have too much right now. I guess we do need to simplify things.

Miles saying an 8-0 preseason was the worst thing that could happen to the team:
That's what I kept saying. Everybody kept saying, 'You guys are looking good.' I'm, like, it's preseason. Half the teams don't play their best players. Now, you come out and guys are defending you. We're not getting any of those same shots. We're not screening; we're not in the right place. We're not running through hard — things that are going to open the game up for us.

Last time being this frustrated:
We've had some bad stretches since I've been on the team. It's not the first time. There's no need to panic. The only thing we can do is play harder, especially to start the games. We can play a lot harder than what we've been doing.

Saying something to the team to prevent splintering:
We talk. We're always talking. We're constantly talking in the locker room. It's not like we come in and don't speak to each other and don't say anything to each other and don't realize we just lost two games and weren't really in any of them.

Problem is not personal relationships but on the court:
It's just on the court. We [need to] spend some more time together. Maybe we need to watch the film. That would be nice.

Usually never get together as a team and watch game film:
No. Not really.

Something you'd like to change:
It'd be nice. That's one thing I've talked about in years past.

Who you've talked to:
It doesn't matter.

I think the watching film part is just like the free throw part. I remember when Sloan was asked about making his team practice free throws a few years ago he said they were professionals and should work on their game if they cared about it. I am sure the same applied to watching film. The film is there and anyone who wants to can watch it. They will if they care enough about it.

I think sometimes that Sloan just did not understand the tiny nuances that turn a bunch of guys playing ball together into a "team".

This is more productive than earlier in the season when the team would meet at Deron's house, and make fun of "the old geezer".
