Parker uses everything he has. Most of his layups are with a defenders hand within an inch of blocking him. If he was any shorter or less reach he would be worse.

Isiah Thomas does have some teamates who are good defensively. Not sure what that has to do with individual defensive ability though.

Anyway, I'm still waiting for any of the IT fans here to admit they'd trade any of our players for him. I've already stated there are at least 3 Jazz players I wouldn't trade straight up, and several others I probably wouldn't trade for him. The all star label is completely misleading in some cases, and this is a prime example IMO.

Why would you ask a bunch of Jazz homers on a Jazz board who they would trade for Thomas? Fair price on this board would probably be Withey for Thomas + pick
 
How much is Isiah Thomas going to get paid once he becomes a free agent?

At his current price I would love to have him as a 6th man type player, never as a starter. But when he becomes a free agent in 2 years how much is anyone willing to pay a 5'9 player?

Uhhh, Hayward is listed at 209 on Google. But everybody pretty much agrees he plays at 225 and weighs about 235 now.

Usually the weight they list is from the beginning of their careers. He's not huge, but Tony Parker definitely has average point guard size.
 
Would anyone trade Exum or Hill straight up for Thomas?

I don't think I would. Call me a homer, but I like the defense of our guys more than what Thomas brings over them offensively. Of course with Exum I'm also factoring in development.

Probably for Exum depending on how his recovery grades out, but Hill presents age, contract, and redundancy issues with Smart. Smart has been traded twice in a short amount of time. I think he is a good band aid for a struggling team to get competitive but he isn't a long term answer for playoff success, kind of like Carlos Boozer frankly (although Boozer got further than Thomas ever will as a starter.) A fully realized Exum is a strong foundational piece to a contender. He isn't that yet, but he has a chance. Thomas will never be that because he cannot consistently overcome the gameplanning that will occur by really good teams over a seven game series. The deeper he goes, elite teams will punish him when he is on Defense and not allow him to "hide" behind Smart.

Fine. The truth is that there's nothing reliable about the measurements Cy is using.

As for Parker, has he bulked up? Ever? He's 6', dome skulled, and well under 200 lbs. He's small. He's never been anything like an anchor on defense. And he's been awesome overall. Thomas just isn't as good, but that has less to do with the 3 inches difference between them than other factors.

You mean 5 inches right? Cuz I know you're not saying that Parker's listed height is exaggerated, but IT's is accurate. If anything, the shorter the player, the bigger the exaggeration is likely to be. IT is probably 5'7" if he stretches out as straight as possible and wears shoes with an extra half inch of rubber on the soles.
 
Here's a pretty good picture of them standing next to each other. Look's to me like Parker is a whole head taller than Thomas.
