What's new

I'm not a doctor, but I'm going to say this anyway (about IT Band Syndrome)...

I picked this injury up when I was training for a half marathon and it seemed like it took 6-8 weeks of PT before I was back in running shape. OP is right is that is an overuse injury and I had no idea what was going on until it was too late. The training staff may need to puts Favs on a pitch count.

Ever since we got our true center in Rudy, I've been advocating for Favors to lose some weight. And every year he comes as big as ever(I wouldn't say fat, but he's damn big)... you cannot convince me this weight is not impacting his body in a long season.

His strength is one of his biggest assets but in general he could drop weight and maintain a strength advantage. Because he plays both positions I don't know that I want him dropping too many pounds, but long term the weight obviously contributes to wear and tear.

I've been with you on that. I was really looking forward to his condition after he KNEW he'd be a PF in the vast majority of him minutes. This is all a big head-scratcher for me.

You don't lose strength when you lose some weight. I'm not saying he should be 230lbs. But he has no business being in the 265-270 range.

please give me a plausible and blameless scenario for developing IT Band Syndrome over the offseason. Don't blame genetics. Go! tia.

I dont have enough information about the situation to draw any reasonable conclusions. I could make up **** or compare it to athletes that I have trained that have dealt with this issue but it would a guess at best. There might be someone to blame, there might not be. No reason to point fingers and try and blame people when you dont have enough information to come up with even an educated guess. Your welcome.

This injury can occur from more than overuse and happens to runners. It often can come from squatting and can come on quickly, even with good form. It can come from stretching too much or not enough or not the right way. Favors has been rehabbing his back and maybe working hard to get that right caused this. Maybe the knew it could lead to this but that is better than a back injury. Genetics are definitely a reason this can happen, everyone's bodies are shaped differently and many of those are things you cannot change and they can cause problems because of it. There are 100s of explanations, none of which you or I can figure out from the information we have. I do know between the Jazz staff and P3 they have people much more qualified to help him and prevent this than you. It might not be this injury at all, it might just be an easy explanation to throw out for a different problem, this happens a lot in sports.

Sorry for the interruption ill let you get back to making your factual if/then statements drawn from your 2 minute google search.

One of Favors biggest strengths in this league is being able to bully around other PFs. He can maintain strength but it also takes mass to be that kind of power bully he plays. I could see an advantage of him losing weight but I also think it would come at a cost which apparently the coaching staff and Favors feel is not worth it right now. Maybe if he continues to have injuries and the reason is because of his mass then hopefully they help him change. His injuries might have nothing to do with that though. Often mass helps prevent injuries for PFs/C.

lol.

can I get a link on this 2-minute search quote?

also, can I get a link on how many professional athletes with 7+ years experience you've trained?

I need to get a sense for how high your horse is. Then, we can continue conversing. tia

That's it? We can't find more people to arbitrarily blame? We can reach deeper. With the lack of knowledge about this situation I'm positive we can find more people to blame. What about P3, his family, Quin, his mail carrier, his dog, maybe the weather, fans, people who make ****ty threads he might read and stress him out and anyone else. Let's get angry at more people because we know little to nothing about what happened or even if this is actually what he has so let's use that knowledge to blame people.

Sent from my Nexus 5X using JazzFanz mobile app

It's his tattoos; the ones on his left side have more ink and it's throwing off his balance and causing him to overcompensate.

Sorry did you do a 5 min internet search? Or are you saying you are an expert in this field? Edited: Oh wait you researched for 2 whole weeks! wow you must be an expert with your internet searching and talking to a buddy in those two weeks.

I have trained enough professional athletes in my career and spent enough time earning education and researching/publishing enough information in Journals to feel competent in this area. Want me to post my resume for you with testimonials? Lol. That information is irrelevant though since neither of us has enough information in this to draw any reasonable conclusion. I have not tried to tell you what it is, just simply none of us know or have enough information to know.

But I am sure you know more about this than the Jazz coaching staff, Favors himself and anyone else to make factual statements. Believe me you impressed me with your knowledge on this subject and sound smart so color me impressed. While we are getting facts from you can you tell us what Alec is doing wrong in his rehab and who to blame? Maybe you could tell us what you would have done differently in his surgeries to make it right. TIA

Ya you do. The argument is that any lost strength will be outweighed by increase in speed, quickness, and durability.

After what I consider an adequate amount of research, I went out on a limb and made a statement. <--That's what I did.

What you did --> Talk plenty about how dope you are while giving very little substance. You also make a ton of entirely baseless accusations and assumptions about my knowledge/experience.

Boyee, I'm so embarrassed.

Mayday! We are going down! MAYDAY! MAYDAY!!!

Oh wait, this is normal...

You went out on a limb and made a factual statement. You didnt say it was an opinion or something that maybe was the cause you said
If you have IT Band Syndrome at the end of the offseason, then it means you aren't very good at taking care of your body.
That statement is untrue and unfounded, purely an opinion at best. I am simply saying I dont know either. I can try and draw guesses but they are just that based on what we know. I didn't initially bring my 10+ years of experience in this field into play, just made a joke about how there is no way to blame someone for this with the information you and I have.

I have no problem with you doing some research and posting your opinions on it and trying to guess what you think it is. Making a factual statement and then blaming someone based on your limited knowledge deserves you getting called out.
This is on Favors, his offseason staff, and the Jazz medical team.
You dont know if that is true or not. There is no reason to blame them based on what we know.

I gave some substance but that is pointless to do when you have claimed facts not opinions and blamed someone based on your supposed factual statements.

dude, you don't think it was plainly ****ing obvious that this is my opinion? really??? jesus christo. have a good day.

I don't see him as fat so some of the weight he'd lose would absolutely be muscle and it would cost him some strength... could faster movements with less weight produce more overall force? I'm sure but backing guys down and holding his position in the post would be more difficult.

If he went from 265 to 240 some of that would have to be muscle. Not sure it's a huge difference strength wise.

Your opinion stated as a fact and blaming people, with no support or evidence. You are welcome to make those statements. I am calling you out for making a post and making a statement that has 0 backing and has no evidence to blame the people you did because of the information you have.

Jazz lost against the Clippers because they were abducted by aliens and not allowed to sleep the night before. Their memories have been wiped. They were targeted because Obama the aliens to because he does not like the Jazz. Obama is the reason the Jazz are losing, I blame him. When Clinton is president it will be worse since she reads this board and hates what NAOS posts, she spied on him and doesnt like that he wipes his *** back to front. NAOS is to blame for the Jazz losing in the future.

There I contributed to this thread with equally useful information.
