What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

Maryland's Justin Jackson went 5/7 from 3 today, 2 blocks,21 pts 4 rebs. If he keeps shooting like this he could definitely go one-and-done. Been mentioning him here for a while.

Trimble with 27-6-4

Iowa State's Sr. Monte Morris had a triple-doube with 17-10-10 today also.

Tadas Sedekerskis is a player that used to be rated the top European prospect born in 1998, he's a strong 6'8" wing that has nice athleticism, ballskills and playmaking ability. In the past few years he seemed to fall out of favor abit with scouts but DX now has him at #24 in the 2018 mock. He appears to be a decent/improving 3pt shooter, if this kid could shoot the lights out he'd be in lottery conversations for sure.

I'm thinking he might work his way into the 2017 draft.

Could be an interesting fit in Utah.

I'm watching Kansas vs Siena. Notes on prospects below:

Josh Jackson - the first thing that makes immediate impression is that he is not selfish and he has pretty good passing skills for his position and size. 3 offensive possessions in a row 3 different passes - dump off to a cutter, great post entry pass and outlet pass in transition. Good start. I like what I'm seeing. He's also grabbing rebounds seamlessly so far. Shoots the gap on D, intercepts the pass and athletic dunk in transition. Another great defensive possession - blocks a layup attempt from the weakside. A bit too excited and out of control in the transition following the block - gets called for offensive foul(second of the game, I kind of feel both were debatable). Second half - another good defensive possession, followed by another foul... this one was ill-advised... tried to cross the path of the ballhandler... called for blocking foul. His athleticism will be an asset in transition - beautiful layup in stride. Sloppy handle in half-court, tried to split a double, hit opponent's foot... handle needs work. Good awareness on the offensive glass - realized his teammate will likely miss a heavily contested layup, followed him from the 3p line and put it back in. Beautiful lateral quickness on D, cut off a guard without much trouble. 2-hands block in the paint! Nice baseline drive and reverse layup. Post up... turn around jump hook... scores with the glass from about 8-10feet. Damn. I am starting to really like him... I want to see more of his jumpshot. Other than that - a lot of things to like about Jackson. A LOT! Ouch... undisciplined foul on 3p shot.

Svi is not starting... he seems big to me. Probably have grown, bulked up a bit... he used to be very thin. Spot up 3 from the corner is good, 1 dribble pullup - not. Also had a couple of good defensive possessions - good contest on a layup, forced a miss, denied the ball on the wing in the other possession. Svi doesn't do much on offense, they are not relying on him to create, sits in the corner waiting for passes. Svi can still pass... and moves his feet well on D. Had to wait until the last minutes to see what I thought he was capable of - nice drive into the paint and athletic finish at the rim. Why did they wait until the game's decided to give him freedom to operate with the ball? Follows the layup with a 3.

Fultz with 16 - 7 - 8 - 3stl - 2blk on 2/4 from 3 last night.

Washington does have some fringe NBA talent around him. Sophomore Matisse Thybulle is their 2nd best prospect. He's 6'5" with a 7' wingspan and a good 3pt shooter. He's #43 in DX's 2018 mock.

Malik Dime and eventually Noah Dickerson will get d-league looks. Dime will be almost 25 at the start of next season so even if he blocks 5 shots a game he won't get drafted. Remains to be see what Timmins ceiling is.

It's likely next years team with Michael Porter Jr will be better.

I really like what I see from D-2 Transfer Derrick White on Colorado. 6'5" do it all wing. I think it's safe to declare him their best prospect.

3 straight 20pt games for Dennis Smith Jr. One thing that he already gets is letting the game come to him. He'll force it at times but when it's time and they need him to get a bucket, he'll know it.

I highly doubt if James Banks(UT freshman) declared for this draft that he'd go undrafted. Passes the eye test with flying colors.

Jarrett Allen's FT's might become a story in this draft... and not for good reasons,7/17 to start the season.

I don't care for his approach.. I wouldn't mind if the ball went in at a decent rate.

He's really got great recovery quickness around the rim defensively though. Quick feet.

Justin Jackson from Maryland intrigues me.

Sent from my SM-N910V using JazzFanz mobile app

It'd be a monumental success for MD to get Justin Jackson drafted in the 1st rd in 2017. Maryland is really trying to move up in the world of CBB and they've got the ammo to get it done. they're gonna go after by-far their best class ever in 2018 and they exist in a recruiting hotspot. So getting a 4-star player drafted one-and-done would do them a world of good, could help them with future Canadian prospects too..

He hasn't gotten his assists rolling yet but it'll come. (check the pass at 0:24)

I think he'd be a good fit for the Jazz tbh. Swap Diaw out for him..

UNC's Justin Jackson is off to a great start from 3 but the word is he's SAWFT, and thats certainly going to hurt his stock.

Really like what I see from Kulboka. He's one of my early favorites from the international pool.

This will be an underwhelming comp for some but he remind sme of a rich mans Omri Casspi

Also honorable mention to Michigan Jr. D.J. Wilson. If he keeps playing as is, he'll debut somewhere in the top-45

Interesting nugget about Hamidou Diallo that I saw someone repost from the Rivals UK board...

Heard a little bit last night about Diallo.

Basically the issue is this, the whole camp wants to go pro. I don't care what you hear in the media. That news was to keep colleges from backing off as much as they already where.

His skillset is major athleticism, a developing off the dribble game, and a shot that's not very good.

That DOESN'T translate to early success in the NBA where almost everyone is athletic or smart enough to guard someone who can't shoot.

So... Diallo's people are being told by a lot of important NBA people to go to UK.

Diallo's family of course would rather him be closer to home (UCONN maybe?)

NBA is the end goal. He's a fringe 1st round pick right now.

You do the math, probably smarter to go to UK for a year.

BONUS: I think Duke is 3rd or 4th for Knox right now. It's probably UNC and UK or UNC and FSU 1-2. I'm pretty confident on the UNC part more so than the UK part. FSU has family connection. Dad is a big Cal fan. Things can always change quickly in big time basketball.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Was doing some draft research and there's no way Harry Giles weighs 240. The guy is a stick. Ben Simmons is the same height as weighs 240.

Yep. right now he's probably more like 225, give or take 5lbs.. He's built almost exactly like a young Amare Stoudemire.

Agreed. And that's a good comparison. This draft reminds me of the stock market in the late-1990s where one could buy stock in any tech company and make money. DL is going to have fun working these guys out pre-draft.
