Favors takes down all Jazz related stuff from his twitter

Patrick Patterson IMO is not good enough to replace the value Favors gives this team. That's why the Raptors went for Ibaka to replace him when they could. Patterson's a better fit for us, but he's not a better player than Favors(not even close) and wouldn't give us better results IMO.

In RealGM's mock off-season I got him for the MLE, but I think in real life he will probably get better offers.
I think he would.

So, IF the Jazz trade favors do they need to find a replacement starting pf and replacement back-up center?

That seems like a difficult task. I hear the reasons for trading Favors, I get it, but boy does Lindsey have a task to fill in those voids.
I think you trade Favors for an asset and sign Olynyk. He can play PF next Gobert as well as Favors and gives us a more athletic C option if Gobert needs a break or we need to spread the opponent out.

Olynyk + Favors asset is better than Favors.
We won a playoff series against a good team while starting a 35-year old Boris Diaw at PF. I think we can figure something out.

You cannot sign Olynyk. The Jazz don't have capspace.

The Favors/Gobert believers can hang their hat on net rating all day, but its clear Quin does not believe in it.

He did when Favor's was healthy. Favor's was not healthy at any point last season so you can't look at last season. Before that they played together a lot and played very well together by any standard.

Health is by far the biggest factor with Favor's. His contract is the second.

Same thing people say about Favors, but they both play both.

Favors has been playing over 50% of his time at PF. Olynyk has played over 90% of his time at C. Olynyk is NOT a PF. You are what you can guard. Olynyk is bad defender against 5s and will be even worse against 4s.

Then he is gone the next year the Jazz probably can't afford to keep him.

Remember all the arguing and anger on this board over letting Milsap and Jefferson walk for nothing...

I'd rather not see a repeat of that. If they know favors doesn't fit into long term plans I hope they act while they can still get an asset in return.

We just aint keep favor long term, its a contact year for him might as well get something for him while we can

Olynyk alongside Gobert makes us too slow for the current stretch NBA style. We need a player more like Lyles with a shot... And defensive ability...

He's a good backup center.
I don't think he's the answer to all issues, but here is why we should pursue him:

- he might sign here and we know many won't
- he could play some with Gobert considering the opponent
- if Gobert is our horse for the long haul, we dont need to ride him into the dirt. We need to be able to keep his minutes consistent to extend his career. A very good, different type center off the bench not only helps the 2nd unit, but also helps long term.
