What's new

The case for Ricky Rubio

We are 4th in the NBA in assists per field goal made.

Last year we were 23rd.
The year before, 27th.

Awesome.

I was skeptical a week ago but am now sold. I thought his lack of range would be a burden on this roster. It's how he is always moving and doing something smart with the ball that has brought a security to the offense. The D wears them down and Ricky seems to take care of the rest. His pace of play will make the altitude of Salt Lake an asset again.

Rubio’s always pushing the pace. When the rest of the team figures out how to keep up with that. . . it’s going to be a beautiful thing. RR is a perfect PG for Quin Snyder. Love that combination and see great things coming from both of them as this team evolves.

I like how Rubio doesn't make it all about Rubio. The ball is always in his hands but he plays the system. I also like how Rubio had said that no coach has ever talked to him as much as Quin does. They might be perfect for each other.

P&R takes time and practice to perfect. I’m ecstatic to see Rubio and Jingles working P&R with both Favors and Gobert. That 4 man game has some serious half-court potential if Hood ever becomes a consistent shooter/scorer to help space the floor.

I just hope he can continue to be a "threat" at mid-range and from the 3. I think Snyders shoot the ball if you're open mentality may bring the confidence out in Rubio.

Obviously it doesn't matter cause we will never know but anybody think that Rubio may have been worse had Hayward stayed? I love Rubio w/ the ball, I hate Rubio standing in the corner.

Ricky Rubio was traded to the Jazz for the draft pick that will come next year from the Enes Kanter trade. Kanter was later traded to NY for Carmelo Anthony - who will likely opt out of his contract and seek a bigger market after he submarines the Thunder title hopes this year.

Rubio > ‘Melo > Kanter

Jazz made out like ****ing bandits.

It was a coup. If the Jazz sat on their hands, they would have lost the $16 million of expiring salary-cap space necessary to pull it off.

Yep. And with the aggressive acquisitions of the Thunder this year, that pick will be conveyed and likely won’t be all that great. Getting Rubio for a 2018 mid-to-late 20’s pick is a damn steal. Any of Jingles, Rubio or Udoh could very well end up being the steal of the year if they keep playing the way that they’ve started the season.

I know he has started slow shooting % wise but don't forget the Mitchell deal either. DL had a hell of an offseason.

Mitchell for a late pick and Trey Lyles was one of the steals of the draft. I don’t care about the slow start. The kid has talent, confidence and a work ethic that is rare. He’ll be just fine. It’s nice to even see him getting playing time off the bat considering how deep this team is right now. DL has had two great offseasons and I expect the Jazz to continue getting better as a result of that. Feels like they’ve picked up right where they left off after beating the Clippers in seven. Lots of exciting things to look forward to.
