The past, the present, and the future: Rockets at Jazz 2/26/18 7:00 pm MST

Mitchell just isnt a great player yet. He is a really good player who has great moments, but he cant consistently knock down off the dribble 3's or get to the foul line. Teams seem to be getting better at forcing him into the shots he is bad at and preventing him from getting to the rim as easily as before (which should change when we start playing **** defensive teams again). Against a team like Houston you have to be able to exploit the mismatch on switches and the Jazz just dont have enough talented individual scorers, especially with the Hood trade. Not saying we win this game with Hood, but it probably would have been a cleaner effort with him taking 15 shots instead of Jae Crowder.

Houston just plays so small they are able to switch on the perimeter really well. Jazz couldnt break the paint consistently enough so they werent forcing rotations. Mitchell couldnt really attack off the PNR because of how well they switch and blow up most of what the Jazz wanted to do. Jazz seemed to solve that with their run in the first half, but then it all just fell apart and they lost focus. Then they got frustrated with the refs and lost even more focus.

Jazz settled for outside shots all night, but especially late. Without Capela, it should've been a Gobert dunkfest.

One thing I do not understand at all is the Jazz's defensive strategy on switches. Something is wrong when we end up with Gobert checking guys at the three point line all night long.

The Jazz don't have enough offense to compete with a team like Houston. Offense was going to be hard to come by as it was, then we traded out Hood.

Rubio had a pretty typical game. Gobert as well. Mitchell didn't have a great game, but was comparable to what he what he was doing in December. So where are the points going to come from? Houston put undersized defenders on us half the night and no one could get a bucket.

We could have used a little more Alec Burks.

Alec did some good stuff but ffs he did some dumbarse stuff too

Hopefully Exum can come back strong and play well

Rudy gave a valiant effort tonight and he brings it every night. Donovan’s got a lot of love from fans but Rudy is just incredible.

Royce also brought some real energy when the Jazz went on their big run in the first half. Unfortunately his second half wasn’t as good, but Royce is a great dude to have out there.

Donovan had a rough night, and looked a bit rattled at times.....which is just fine. He should have nights like this. No player is perfect every night and as a rookie he certainly won’t be. Tonight’s post game interview is actually the most down I’ve ever seen Donovan. It was actually refreshing to see it bother him and not be so perfect and upbeat in an interview.

It was a tough loss against a good team, when our team wanted to throw the ball away and take bad shots. So many things went wrong tonight and we’ve looked terrible since the break and even a few games before it didn’t look very crisp even though we won. They now have 3 days to reignite this team and get back in sync. Here’s to Donovan bouncing back....because we know he will.

grit and grind Jazz in the age of high scoring teams that win ...... Jazz just like last year coming down the stretch with non athletic players (like Snyder was at Duke)and struggling to score .....Do we have to hear what a great coach Snyder is just because his teams lose holding the high scoring teams under their yearly average but barely get 90 points themselves.
Jazz are not winnning anything with a 6'6 PF (Crowder) in the playoffs .
Dante Exum when he comes back should have no leash on him at all like Mitchell or Jazz aren't going anywhere with non athletic players.

Tell us about all the players we should have signed. Snyder is a great coach and works with what he has. It’s easy to complain about the players we have, I’d like to know how you think gathering up athletic, gifted talent is so easy.

That was one of the most frustrating games all season... I can’t for the life of me understand why Harden is officiated the way he is.

Dm was really bad tonight. Ariza and luc are really tough up top.

Our team can’t shoot and when we can’t shoot the defense just packs it in and we got nothing.

So many dumb plays in the second half... just so many WTF moments.

We are not winning a game in which Mitchell and Ingles go 2-14 from 3 and combine for 11 turnovers.

Also, Crowder shouldn't be taking 8 3s, many contested. He's too trigger-happy. He took 15 shots, as many as Gobert and Favors combined. Needless to say, we didn't attack the paint enough and settled for long jumpers.

I hate the Rockets and their constant flopping. Unwatchable.

I don’t even think it was packed in that bad. Guys missed Rudy with a mismatch most of the night when he could have scored easily. Instead they took bad jumpshots outside the offense and missed most of them. A lot of jump shots tonight were outside the offense and undisciplined.

According to Basketball Reference DM is 55% from corner 3s. He's money at those, but doesn't get to shoot them much since we run him as the primary option a lot.
When Exum comes back, hopefully it will help DM see some more of those corner 3s, or any catch and shoot 3s for that matter.

Agreed, Donovan is not great off he bounce or moving while he’s shooting right now. His feet need to be set on his shots.

Yes, known playmaking PG who can break down defense Dante Exum.

*that was sarcasm*

I hope Harden pulls that whoopity bulshit bogus whistle getting three of his on a dude that didn't wash his hand after he pooped. I hope he gets scratched on his forearms and the poop germs give him an infection requiring a double amputation just below the elbow. Seriously *** James Harden. It's more WWE than NBA watching that dude play. So f****** obnoxious

That was the worst game of the season. Jazz played horrible. Mitchell couldn't make a shot and had WAY too many turnovers. We also had to watch Harden and CP3. Horrible all the way around.

Do you really think Q has gotten the most out of Exum, Burks and Favors? I have my doubts.

Yea I might be being unfair - but Jae seems to want to become an important member of the team the 'easy' way. It's almost like he wants to be more assertive because he thinks his status deserves it. But my memories are of him being more of a role player in Boston - despite having a decent handle and rim running change up.
