What's new

Stephen Jackson calls out Utah fans now.

Ok, a few things:

-I think Elfrid Payton’s hair is ridiculous and I would take every chance I had to taunt him about it during a game if given the opportunity. Does that make me a racist? Because honestly, I don’t really know anymore. For a frame of reference, I think The Bird Man has always had really stupid hair do’s and would also taunt him if given the chance. It seems like nowadays, a white guy cant tease a black guy about a REALLY stupid hair do without somebody inferring racism. Which is really sad/stupid
.
You are probably a racist judging from how little you seem to understand about racism.

Literally everyone has made fun of Elfrid Payton's hair and no one thinks it's racist to do so. You are just being facetious and it makes you look like an *******/racist.

Who here has smoked weed before an organized game? I remember one time in my early 20s in a rec league with refs, our whole team smoked some weed in the parking lot before the game. It was like a comedy of errors. Our coordination was way out of sync.
Stephen Jackson would go to shoot around, then go home (early afternoon) and smoke weed to take a nap, then go to the game. He wasn't literally smoking weed 30 minutes before tip.

-In the age of iPhones, social media, and instant EVERYTHING, please show us something when you decide to deride an entire fan base of being racist. If it’s going on at the level that Jackson and Westbrook are saying, that ***** on video somewhere. Let’s get it out there and actually get some merit behind your ugly accusations.

You are aware players cant pop out their iphone in the middle of the game, right?

Westbrook and Steven Jackson never really grew up. Like kids always do, they generalize, I don't particularly listen or care about what they have to say. There have been plenty of players complimentary of our fan base. Kids are easily provoked. If Westbrook had played a series vs another team and lost and a fan stuck a camera in his face he and Jackson would've done the same generalization to that teams fans.

But everyone and their mothers have one nowadays. It would be super easy to find proof of something so "common" with the proliferance of recording devices and their use, but all we have is hearsay at the moment.

Not necessarily and I dont think that's sound logic. What's the general response here? Being offended that Utah is being attacked. Maybe people have had things recorded, but didnt post them because they didnt want the negative stereotype to have evidence.

I love how you supposedly can't use terms like thug or ghetto in case you can hurt someone, but accusing someone of being racist is A-OK.

You don't spend too much time on social media right? Everyone is posting on instagram, youtube, twitter, etc. It something racist have been said or done, it is there.

Just look at how the word "thug" has been used in the news over the last several years man. It's clearly a racially charged word now.

Language evolves and changes. If you are that upset you cant use the word "thug" without evoking negative feelings from people because of the way the word has evolved, then tough ******* man.

And your perfectly welcome to not give a **** about how people feel about you saying it, but dont turn around and cry about how people feel about you using it.

You really believe that every racist act is documented on social media?

This is why people think Utahns are racist yall.

Going to a game is a social event, and social events are recorded thoroughly by media and people.

I love how you assume I'm from Utah btw.

So every moment is recorded?

There was a fight at a Utah game this year where a man was pushed down a flight of stairs in the upper deck and cracked his head open. It wasnt recorded. Did it happen? How can we ever know?

1 fight =/= multiple cases of racist behavior. C'mon, you are better than go for a false equivalence, that's low grade fallacy.

You are honestly talking about a fallacy when your entire argument is based on a fallacy?

I really have no idea why everyone is so quick to defend against the thought that there is probably some racist people in a sample size of 18,000+ fans on any given game night. Odds say they are definitely in there. And out of those select people, there are probalby some who have a few too many one night and let something slip. Not everyone is waiting by them with an iphone ready to expose them, especially when doing so wouldnt reflect on them well as a Utah Jazz fan.

You are honestly changing the subject when caught cheating in the discussion?

So odds are right when you say there's racist out there, but there's no odds that they would have been caught on record on the thousands of cameras, microphones and cell phones recording the game at all times. Yeah righto.

Cheating? You are the one who literally said every racist act gets caught on camera nowadays. Surely if every racist word uttered gets recorded and put on the internet, then something as big as a fight would never fail to be filmed. Fights typically have acts. There is some rising tension and a climax, perfect for people to be notified to record. A racial taunt can be said in a second.

Dude. You really cant be this daft.

1. Not everything gets recorded
2. Not everything that gets recorded gets posted.
3. You are an idiot.

You can use them, but then in turn people can think of you saying them as they please. It’s a difference in how you feel about somethingand how the person on the receiving end feels about it. I’ll side with the person on the receiving end.

It’s comments like this that are too much. Laying off dumb terms that don’t fully mean to you what they mean to someone else is not that big of deal.

LOL being called daft by you is really precious. Talk about total lack of self awareness.

You surely don't know how social media works nowadays. Nobody is waiting for someone to say something to record it. People are recording events ALL THE TIME and what is being said in a second (a racial taunt) get caught on record. If the arena is so full of racist and disgusting people as Westbrook and Jackson are saying, there should be plenty of record of people saying those things. It is so hard to understand?

And how is the saying? When you start with the insults is when you lost the argument? Something like that.
