What's new

Kevin Love/Marc Gasol and Korver

Okay, so, like...

Let's pretend for a minute that Gobert adds just one ****ing move (hopefully a simple hook shot)...

If Gasol and Gobert are such a terror on offense/the offensive glass that it forces teams to matchup instead of the other way around... is that the key? Most teams don't have stretchy bigs that also defend well, and maybe only the Warriors have two.

Ah ****, I found the catch. Just the best roster ever assembled.

Cool.

But how do we trade for Gasol? He has two years left at about 24.1 and 25+M respectively.

Burks, Sef, JJ, Udoh match up with that 24.1M essentially exactly fwiw.

They'd want picks with that for sure

So give them our 2019 unprotected 1st. Burks, Udoh and JJ and our 2019 1st for Gasol. Hold onto Sef. I think I'd throw in a 2021 1st too. **** it.

Then, match Exum and throw MLE money at a solid backup pg like VanVleet. Truly go for it the next two+ years.

Rubio (32)-VanVleet (16)
Mitchell (32)-Exum (16)
Ingles (32)-O'Neale (16)
Gasol (16)-Crowder (32)
Gobert (32)-Gasol (16)

So our roster would be

Rubio, VanVleet, Exum, Mitchell, big 2nd round pg
Mitchell, Exum, O'Neale, big 2nd round pg
Ingles, O'Neale, Crowder, Sefalosha, Bates Diop
Gasol, Crowder, Sefalosha, Bates-Diop
Gobert, Gasol, Bradley

That's 12 guys. Super cheap 4/5 partial MLE guy would make 13..

Ring.

I’m kinda liking the Gasol thing. I’d love to see him shoot threes over these 6’7” PFs, post up those 6’7” PFs, or pass over the heads of the 6’7” PFs. I’d also like that all the rebounds are belong to us.

I'm sure you're on a short list of people that still care about what Kroger did - or didn't - on a very flawed team that never had a chance at a ring. Don't worry.

Add my name to the list. Still bitter.

Also, I resent DMC because after every good game he said, "I'm playing for 29 other teams..." Seems like he never wanted to acknowledge the Jazz. Kinda glad the Jazz sold #3 Burke jerseys before he left.

Only way Id take either of them is on very affordable contracts.

¿Que?

I can't comment on this "29 other teams" thing, except that this is the first time I've heard of it and that he has always been very gratuitous towards the Jazz and it's fans. And that's quite documented.

To be sure, he'd spend plenty of time with centers on him since Rudy hasn't shown a great ability to punish mismatches. However, that would also mean that Gasol could pull the center away from the basket which is all the better.

I question anyone's jazz fandom that suggests bringing back korver. **** that guy. Selfish *******.
lol. Says the guy who went on for a page that Stockton wasn't very good and neither were the Jazz in the 90's because of the mortal sin of losing to contenders in the playoffs.

This is hardly here-or-there, but in the 2016 draft, I gave myself a day to review prospects, and the only guy I identified as wanting (given the circumstance of only having second-rounders) was Vanvleet.

Anyway.

No way the Grizz would ever do this though.
Here's what I see:

They're not trading Gasol this offseason. They're going to at least wait to see if this season was just some weird aberration. If it's apparent mid-season that they've lost it, Gasol goes on the trade block as that will kind of be their last best chance to get anything for him. At that point, who's trading amazing assets for a 34-year old true center? Contenders won't have them to give and teams rebuilding won't want him to ruin their tank and/or won't want to part with theirs.

Yeah, you didn't read that very well because those are not things I said.

Then I’ll amend my statement to say that I’d love to see everyone get back in transition D while Rudy competes on the offensive glass with a 6’7” PF.

Love would fit perfectly with this Jazz team. He would not have to place Center and could be the #2 or #3 on offense. Don’t think the jazz have assets to get him though, as I highly doubt the Jazz would include Mitchell, Gobert or Ingles.
