2019 trade deadline discussion

Favors is better and will prove to be better this year than Tobias Harris. Favors is only 1 year older than Harris. Favors is also a better fit for our team. Harris is a much better 3 point shooter but that is all.

Do we need Burks to win?
Taking on salary dumps.

No, we dont need him. Although I think he could still be a good complimentary piece. But we are not tying up our cap space with a long term contract for another player that does not help us win just for some crap pick. We will trade for a player that helps us win and will keep flexibility open while we look for that or just keep our guys that are getting close enough to compete in the next couple years.

Yeah, but with better coaching and a better team concept, how much better could Harris get on the Jazz?

Maybe he could be better. But I never see him becoming as good as Favors on defense, rim protection, rebounding, screens, and physical strength. But he is a better shooter and he can handle the ball better. Both of them offer positional flexibility the same just different positions. Favors adds so much to our team that isnt in the stats and doesnt get as much recognition. I have a hard time believing Harris is an upgrade to Favors and if he is its nominal because we definitely would get worse in some areas.

Replacing Favors with Harris isn't the championship formula. Adding Harris to Favors might be. All depends on if those guys want to sacrifice for a shot at a title.

I'd like to see them both on the team to be honest, which is why it would be nice to have him at the trade deadline to see if its worth extending Harris and picking up Favors option.

Edit: Or basically what LoPo said.

I agree that adding him would be a good rotation of bigs to have. There are players I would prefer over Harris but I guess he would be okay. I would rather take a chance on Jabari. Who is just as good already and potential to be better than him. Jabari might be had for less money as well, who knows.

This is the trade deadline thread, and I doubt Parker could be had at the deadline. I'd like Mirotic as well, but NO isn't going to trade him at the deadline either

I'm all in on trying to get Tobias Harris at the Deadline. A trio of Harris/Favors/Gobert at the 4/5 would be awesome. He is the best player available from a team I see likely on the outside of the playoffs at the deadline. If they don't like their chances of resigning him, a first and expiring contracts may get it done. Getting him at the deadline allows the Jazz to see what they have with him/Favors/Gobert before next season, and resign him going over the cap being able to keep Rubio and Favors for 2019.

Of the FA in 2019, Jimmy Butler is my favorite. He would be an amazing fit for the Jazz. Great defender. Great scorer and shooter. Can guard 3-4 positions. May not be as great of a fit as Paul George because you aren't likely to play Butler at PF, but he would be able to fit in as a starter at SF no question alongside DM, Rubio and the rest of the gang. I don't know if he'd even consider the Jazz, but I don't feel like he's talked about enough with the 2019 class that is coming up. I'd personally take him over Thompson.

i'd hardly call Butler a great shooter

I see Rubio going down as one of the all time Jazz greats. Somehow he brings the magic to Utah.

Only concern with him is injury.
