2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

There's 0 chance the Jazz bring on Chandler Parsons. That's not the type of thing they do.

There's also 0 chance the Jazz trade for Blake Griffin. There's no possible scenario that makes sense for both teams right now.

With Wiggins & Towns both under contract for about $30 million/year through 2023 I don't think there's any way the Wolves will hit reset.

Fair enough, that's kind of the impression I've gotten from their fans as well, though I feel it's a bit of a fools errand with Wiggins on that contract.

Me either. I full expect us to lose by double digits. Maybe 15-20 even. But I’m excited at the possibility of Mitchell and Rubio turning it on and us turning a corner.
We are always dangerous. Just have to make shots really and we can beat anybody. I guess most teams can kind of make that claim though

Fixed it, most teams don't create open shots at the rate we do.
I’ve wondered if there’s any deeper level to this number, as my assumption has been that at least one variable in that equation is that we pass to the open man who the defense is daring to shoot. I’d be curious to see over time how Korver’s numbers compare to previously, as he’s really the only one guarded tightly. I think Joe used to get a lot more open shots, but not much now, even though he’s shooting at about the same rate.

Mitchell is our future at pg...I think we should trade Rubio for Hardaway jr...New York wants cap space we could use another shooter/shot creator.

If Hardaway was 100% healthy, I could get on board. However, his injuries along with his salary and suspect defense makes me so no thanks.

Keep an eye on the 5PM EST waiver wire. Monday is the last day to waive a player on a non-guaranteed/partial contract and not get charged the full salary. The list of 20 players include Ryan Arcidiacono, Shaquille Harrison, Alfonzo McKinnie, Michael Carter-Williams, Patrick Beverley, Tyrone Wallace, Christian Wood, Tim Frazier, Jahlil Okafor, Kenrich Williams, Trey Burke, Noah Vonleh, Isaiah Briscoe, TJ McConnell, Richaun Holmes, Quincy Pondexter, Lorenzo Brown, Royce O'Neale, Ron Baker and Chasson Randle.

I’d love Covington. Love.

The deadline is 2/8.

I think by about 1/25, we need to see where we’re at. That’s 11 games. If we go worse than 7-4 during that time, that’s unacceptable to me. 8-3 or even 9-2 are definitely possible.

But 6-5? Awful. If we do that, we need to make a move. RoCo and Tolliver’s expiring for Favors, Niang and a 1st might be enough to get it done.

But if we go 8-3 during that stretch and are ascending, sitting at 28-23 with 31 remaining, I think it’ll be tough for Lindsey to pull the trigger on any sort of meaningful deal.

btw, I’ve pencilled tonight’s game in as a loss. The good things for us are:

1) Spurs play AT the Pistons.
2) Nuggets at Rox. One will lose.
3) Grizz at Pels. One will lose.
4) Lakers at Mavs. One will lose.

The Blazers and Kings should each win at home against the Knicks and Magic, respectively. If one of those is an upset, that’s huge.

I think we need to identify players who would improve our team and pursue them regardless of our record.

- Rubio has only had beast 2nd half of the seasons for the last two years. Relying on that again is foolish.
- Favors and Gobert did not share the floor that much against Golden State or Houston in the 2nd round the last two years because we have issues with them both on the floor. Expecting something different is foolish.
- Exum hasn't proven that he can carry the load from a starting PG position.

Rubio is an expiring. Favors could/should be an expiring. A few other guys are gone soon too probably (Thabo, Neto, Udoh maybe). So we shouldn't ignore the rough start to the first half of the season just because we have a decent 11 game stretch....

I don’t think there are any clear upgrades at pg through trade.
