Anna Burns-Francis, a reporter with TVNZ, has been speaking to BBC World News.

She says there is no gun culture in New Zealand - shops do not sell semi-automatic weapons as they do in the US, for example.

Firearms are generally used only in rural areas for hunting and "you wouldn't see anyone with a gun".

It's not a crazy guy with easy access to guns. It's a well planned attack by someone on the extremist end of a not uncommon ideology.

Correct. It’s not uncommon. Just visit Breitbart anytime and you’ll see similar rantings. That’s the thing, this type of hate isn’t uncommon. If anything, these crazies are becoming more common and more emboldened. Why’s that?
