What's new

Michael Gilchrist

I disagree, I think you package the lower draft pick and a player like Harris/Millsap for a top 5 pick. Assuming we get pick 10 for our pick and like 11-14 for the GS pick, we could easily package the GS pick with Millsap or Jefferson for a high draft pick preferably in the top 5.

Then we draft both our SF and PG of the future like Gilchrist and Kabongo.

Then we have 14 (Jefferson's contract) + 10 (Okur's contract) = 24 million dollars of cap room.

I mostly agree. Next year is too stacked to worry about having too many stud rookies (assets, at least). There's just not enough difference in talent from 1 to 10 (or even 14)

What if the new CBA requires college players to stay until their sophomore year? We would be screwed.

So you are saying the reverse might be true for Barnes--that he will slide down the boards next year. If he kind of stinks do we really want him? Hoping to get our PG of the future next year.
I suppose he could slide, I was thinking/hoping more that other guys with more potential (Barnes has good athleticism but not the wow-athleticism) could leapfrog him (similar to how Turner jumped ahead of Derrick Favors - who was widely considered the #2 prospect behind Wall entering the 09-10 season). I'm not sure I want a "PG of the future" from that draft. It often takes awhile for those guys to develop, and with the other young players surrounding him I think a veteran PG would be a better fit with Utah's young nucleus, but who knows how it all plays out.

Wise, at least until we see how Teague and Kabongo handle the upcoming season. I doubt either are future top 10 pg's.

Right now looks like this year's draft might have been better for PGs. But of course we have not even started the college season yet. So Teague or Kabongo could be the real deal at PG. Granted if they are really good, they could be gone by the time we draft.

This is who I would like to see at SF from the '12 draft. (For all you haters, I would say the same thing if he were Duke/UNC bound)

New video of Gillie. He's of the highest character. Couple quick facts most don't know.
- His dad was killed when Michael was only 3 years old (there's a Lion King movie story in there, for another day). After that, his uncle became his father figure in his life.
- (read) Only minutes prior to his announcement of his college choice, with family all around, his uncle collapsed of a heart attack, of all people in attendance, it was Michael who performed CPR for 18 minutes before ultimately having his uncle die in his arms. He was asked (obviously) if he wanted to postpone the video conference, and he said, "No, my uncle and my father would both want me to continue to live my life to the fullest." He's a bad ***.[video]https://www.ballislife.com/video/66-mike-gilchrist-top-sf-in

My friend taught him this year.

I want him because I think he'd be a great fit being as we badly need a 3, he could be a lockdown defender, can penetrate, and so on and so on. I also want him because maybe I could get free tix to a game or two out in SLC, meet him and some players, ectetera, all via my friend. I have no pull of course.

River's is a shooting guard. Marshall is not quite what I would call a franchise PG. Very solid, but nothing special. This coming from a NC fan.

"Taught" as in school or ???

Most analysts see Teague and Kabongo being elite NBA point guards. Teague is more of a scorer (less athletic Derrick Rose) while Kabongo is an excellent passer with better handles (more of a Rondo player).

I dont know about you guys but I'd take a Rondo type player over Rose anyday.
