What's new

2019 NBA draft day thread

No I want us to trade 53 and 1.75M to move up and draft Paschall. Oh. Nevermind. The Dubs, who’ve won three titles recently, just did.

Oh well. I’m glad the Millers have poured all this money from the 2nd rounders we’ve sold, the great economy, and their trust back into the franchise.
This. ^ Wanna play with the big boys, you have to go into the draft and make the same caliber of moves. Warriors are one of the most aggressive teams buying 2nd round picks - it PAYS off if you do it well.

That is a lot of work for Jazz staff to stay at 53. Other teams seem to value second round picks more than the Jazz. I can't be too upset but I get tired of hearing how the Jazz are going to be aggressive this year in the draft and then nothing happens.

Tony Jones told us what was happening when he said the Jazz see value at 53 about 20 minutes ago. And I hate to get all negative, but sure feels like buying a pick yesterday instead of waiting to see what happened today would be what I would call "aggressive." Conservative is only offering for a pick when you know what will be there. Then it's more expensive.

I think like @Catchall said, the FO scouted the second round well and know their targets. Being aggressive as a GM means making and taking as many calls as you can and trying to find a deal that works in your favor, or getting your target. The draft is a bit of a crapshoot and we'll all see how this plays out tho.

Eh I'm not gonna stress out about it too much. Most of these dudes are gonna suck lol

He got worked. He overpaid.

Maybe. But he got a star and we are better positioned for a championship. Most conservative GM in all sports? Bah

People is just plain overreacting for players who might not even be NBA players.
