Jazz sign Bojan

About? You could, ya know, explain your position a little.

I didnt think he deserved the max the first time cause he sucked the year prior to recieving it. I think you should like be good or something to get the max.

The second time he was a good player but felt that 30+ million was more than he deserved.

Like i said, agree to disagree.

My evidence is that most sources had us pursuing Bojan the night before, and then we signed Bojan in the same manner that the previous rumors said, for the money that they said it would take. Why the hell would we have diverted from that plan to sign the inferior player, for a similar amount of money? Mirotic wasn't going anywhere until Bojan was decided. Well, except to Spain, I guess. . .

All the existing evidence points to Bojan being the primary target, unless you believe that the Jazz leaked the information that they were spurned by Mirotic and settled for Bojan. If they did, I would have to believe that it could only have been a smokescreen.
What possible reason do the Jazz have for saying they first wanted Mirotic? Personally he is a better "fit". But I've believed the Jazz should get the best shooter available, and I think they did. They paid 3 million more than they were offering Mirotic. I think Jazz were surprised his pricetag was that low, hence the rain they were going for Mirotic first.

I'd bet that once there were whispers that Bojan could be had, Mirotic might have been placed on the backburner. I could easily see the Spain thing as a negotiating tactic that went wrong. Jazz might have been in contact with Mirotic, but I highly doubt an agreement was in place, especially at 15 million.

According to Tony Jones the Jazz never offered 15 and they only preferred Mirotic because they had another player lined up with the money they would save by getting Mirotic.

So to recap: Mirotic was not Plan A. Plan A was Mirotic + Unknown Player

Bojan was Plan B.

Just signing Mirotic with cap space without enough to get an additional player was never a plan.

Plan A was to get Mirotic plus someone else with what? The 3 mil it would have left?

How do you guys compare Bogdanovic to Hayward’s last year with the jazz?
I’ve mentioned that before. Very similar. You’ve got Hayward who had an entire offense built around him. Bojan hasn’t been. He comes off a lot of screens. I think he gives you 90% of what we would have wanted Hayward’s Robin to be. I do think the better comparison for our team and offense next year is our 2016-2017 team. We were starting to ascend and knew we were one player away. Well, we’ve added Donovan, essentially replaced Hayward with Bojan, and upgraded George Hill to a super George Hill (Conley). Favors has been replaced by 85% Favors in Davis, and we no longer have the front court spacing issues.

Plus I’m not really convinced we’ve lost anything defensively.

Great comparison. Plus Rudy's offense is much better than it was then.
