2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

I'm not a big Mudiay fan. I think he's erratic. Maybe that's what makes him unique, but he seems almost impossible for guys to play with. He doesn't play in pick-and-roll, he's still reluctant to shoot 3s--he's basically a drive and kick player who isn't terribly difficult for teams to defend.

All good dude. Quin was starting the showcasing of him today for a trade in a couple weeks

Get Bertans. A 6’10 standard sized PF who also happens to be the league's most deadly catch and shoot assassin.

Him pairing with Bojan will space the floor like crazy. He is also an one year expiring with Wizards unlikely to spend the big bucks to keep him.

Excellent suggestion dude.

He'll be expiring at the same time as Conley and Gobert, giving us some roster flexibility for 2021/22. Plus, the Jazz really like him.

He was already signed through next season and we gave him a one year extension, so his contract now doesn't expire until after the 2021-22 season, which will be a year after Conley and Gobert's expire.

Hornets receive: Dante Exum and Georges Niang

Jazz receive: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

The Hornets do it because they're going to let MKG walk in free agency this coming summer anyway. He's not in their current rotation because Borrega has opted to go with younger players, guys they've acquired since his arrival (his guys). They basically get a free two year trial to see if they can make something of Exum. Exum's contract doesn't bother them because they are capped out anyway and it expires the same time as their other massive contracts.

Jazz do it because MKG is an upgrade in Niangs minutes. MKG has been a very good plus/minus player most of his career and over most of that time he was a starter playing against other starters. For the Jazz he would be a bench player. He would give the Jazz a much needed boost athletically. He would give the Jazz another good wing defender. He finishes at the rim. He rebounds well for his size. He's active enough to get steals and blocks. He can't shoot anywhere near the level of Niang. That's the one drawback. But the Jazz as a team are #4 in 3 point percentage. They have enough shooting.

Just an idea. One I'm sure some would hate. But it looks like Mudiay has usurped Exum in the rotation. And it seems pointless to have Exum's salary sitting on the pine when our bench unit needs help. It's also hard to find a realistic trade involving Exum. So.

I have been really, really high on the idea of Ntilikina for a while. He is a solid player in a bad situation. He still has potential and maybe he can unify this team due to his connection with Rudy and Donovan.

Exum and Green
for
Ntilikina and Gibson

NY saves money this year and pick up a player they hopefully have interest in (Exum). We get two useful players. Gibson provides much needed frontcourt depth. If we also have to send them Mudiay, then so be it.

I’d rather Dante and Davis for frank and portis

MKG was riding the bench on my fantasy team a few years back other than that I know nothing about MKG. He sounds nice when summed up in a few sentences.

Doesn't he have a horrendous shot? Like Dante bad?
Probably worse. But maybe with his role, experience, and skillset, he is less of a risk and brings other things to the table. I was very low on MKG coming out of the draft and I haven't followed him, but I would think he'd be an upgrade over Dante, which is frankly hard not to be

This fascination with Taj Gibson makes very little sense to me. If he was on a one-year deal, then I could see the utility in his expiring contract. He shouldn't play next to Gobert and is he twice as good as Ed Davis, being 6' 8" and 34 years old or whatever?

Anyone swap Dante for Andre Roberson? Not sure about when he’s due back, but he’d be what we’re hoping Dante is except he can guard Kawhis and LeBrons.

I’m not a big proponent of moving Joe, and apparently there may be some restriction in doing so this season, but if 1) we insist he’s a bench guy and 2) he can be moved, then I think Ingles/Exum for Otto Porter (not sure why Chicago would do it) would be a move that puts us close. Great three point shooter. Good defender. Has the size to at least put a body on Kawhi and LeBron (more so than anyone we have). Has shown he’s been a decent rebounder in the past. Can start and close. Was also someone DL targeted before and we know how he gets tunnel vision.
