Turkey coach thinks Kanter not ready for NBA

After watching this guy coach 4 games for Turkey, it's clear he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about or basketball. Maybe even life in general.

nihat izic is a joke, only reason he is with the national team is,he has no where else to go.one of the worst coaches in turkish basketball history.

P.S Thread started by AKMVP,what a surprise:)

well it is nice to hear your opinion about N.Izic. I just stumbled upon this article, nothing really new for me here but I though I will share it... do not get your ironic comment though?

AKMVP

It ironic because a coach who obviously should not be coaching the Turkey team because he doesn't have the knowledge or skill set says that Kanter is not ready to play in the NBA. Real NBA scouts and coaches obviously disagreed with this guy.

Personally the entire article sounded like the Turkey guy was pissed at Kanter for not playing in Turkey and going to Kentucky. Maybe this is why the coach doesn't play him the minutes he seems to deserve on the court.

From what I've heard from people who follow Turkey bball they say Izic is still bitter about the way Kanter left Fenerbahce. Turkish ball is shady. They had to do the "right thing" by filing the necessary paperwork for Kanter's ban, but they had no problem to fly Ilyasova as an 18 yr old from Uzbekistan, hook him up with a fake ID and get him to compete against 15 year olds.

These comments didn't surprise anyone with knowledge of the situation as they know Izic is still bitter.

Actually, when asked by the New York Times, Fenerbahce greatly exaggerated what Kanter was paid. Then, when asked by the NCAA for proof of said payments, Fenerbahce refused to cooperate. The interesting thing is that if the team wanted to be sure Enes didn't play for Kentucky, why not show the bank records that would support their claims. Didn't matter in the end, because Mehmet Kanter's records that no one disputed (except for Fenerbahce), were found by the NCAA to be reason for Enes' abandonment of amateur status.

But again looking at all this situation why Kanter did not come back to Turkey or whatever other league to play ball and decided to sit all year when he knew he could not play in NCAA? It was his own decision - hard to understand.

Is this guy the head coach? The article said he is the assistant coach... not that it makes him any better.

Although he seems to be bitter about Kanter leaving the Turkish team, I think it is a right move for us fans to lower expectations of his impact right away though. Especially if Millsap is not traded, Kanter just won't see the court enough to show his talents, just like Hayward last year.

Even if Kanter isn't ready, (and it is hard for us to expect him to play well right away considering how long it's been since he's played) it's not really that big of a deal for us because we still have Big Al, Millsap and Favors. We have front-court depth so we don't need Kanter to be a 20-10 right away, we just need to let him develop and not rush him. This is a great situation for him IMO.

he is the assistant coach ,or as we call him waterboy of Orhun Ene..worst coach in the league,He used to coach Tofas, look at them now in turkish league

Usually I'd wince at that news, but after seeing how god awful the Turkish coach is I really can't take him seriously.

I know I'm a broken record on this, but I have NEVER (ever) seen poorer coaching than this Turkish team. No hyperbole .. turrible.

Of course Kanter is not ready to play in the NBA. In any given year, you can count the rookies who are ready on one hand, and usually not more than 2 of those are in the lottery.

Agree with article. Y'all make it sound like this guy was just outright hating on Kanter and saying he was going to suck. He was just stating that Enes isn't going to be an impact player his first year, and that if he would have stayed in Europe, he would be much further along in his development (I agree with all of this). Is he a little bitter that Kanter left for college when it was known there was a high chance he wouldn't be eligible? Probably, but I don't think that he has an agenda to make him fail.

I agree with every sentence.
