The Official: Swallow your pride front office and trade Conley for Love

I think, practically speaking, the Jazz might be able to move Conley to New York for Randle and Portis. They could then *maybe* send Randle to OKC with a pick for Schroeder. That second part may be a stretch. That would give the Jazz a backup PG who is as effective as Conley at half the cost and give us a backup 4/5, whose next year isn't fully guaranteed. It would free up some money to re-sign Clarkson, which I'm guessing they want to do.

Conley could go to NY, help them establish a system with Barrett and Robinson, and be the perfect NBA citizen, which appears to be something that franchise needs.

Conley needs the ball in his hands and needs to be the center of attack to really be effective. He needs to play off of screen action. He also needs a lot of touches to get himself into a rhythm. Yet the Jazz as a whole are more effective when Mitchell and Ingles are running the offense. It's an awkward fit, and Conley isn't as versatile as people thought, especially playing off the ball.

If the Jazz could turn Conley and a pick or two into Schroeder and Portis, that would be a pretty good move.

I think the Jazz could also improve their defense a bit by picking up GRIII from Golden State.
Would be amazing if we could get Schroeder out of conley

Not sure. The Raptors did pretty well by playing Lowry/Van Vleet together in the playoffs.
It worked cuz they had Siakam and Kawhi on the floor providing that extra length and athleticism. To play midget backcourt you need sizeable wings who could cover that extra ground or else your defense is absolutely gonna suck as opponents can just lob over you or shoot over you, like what we've seen in the last three games. If that's still not convincing enough, look at how much Portland's struggling on D this year with the CJ/lillard combo since they've lost aminu and harkless.

If Rudy doesn't come out and help, and our midget combo struggles on defending switches off of pick n roll, we are pretty much screwed.

So because we don't want a player being left open by design and hurt our offense, we wanna bring in a player who's forcing contested and ill-advised shots early in the shot clock that goes everything against our offensive flow? I mean, have you seen all those awkward iso/hero ball garbage that Conley threw up? Mudiay maybe a bad shooter but Conley isn't doing himself any justice with all these unconvincing plays either. We have zero doubt on FO's decision of going away from Rubio cuz his poor shooting did hurt our offense. But Conley is the wrong answer to address that issue. He just doesn't fit into our offense and his game will not translate

Where are you getting that from? He is not forcing ill-advised shots early in the shot clock and ruining the offense. Get your facts right.

Per nba.com, Conley attempts 25% of his shoots are classified as 'early' or 'very early' on the shot clock. 75% were 'average', 'late' or 'very late'. Of those early shoots, 73% were either at the rim or a 3. In terms of how contested his attempts are: 15% were 'very tight' or 'tight' (defender between 2-4 feet).

For comparisons sake, 28% of Donovans attempts are early or very early. 18.6% of Donovan attempts are highly contested. Clarkson and Joe Ingles sit at 32% in early/very early attempts. Clarkson tries slightly more than 19% contested shoots.

Conley inability to make open shoots (ones that he usually made and now is missing) is the real history. On that we can probably agree. But the narrative that he is hijacking the offense is not true.

So, a small back court could work with big wings/forwards behind them? voilá! As obvious to everyone, it's been pretty clear we need an extra body next to Royce. He is too small to defend big 3s or 4s. Niang is too slow.

Even if we had kept a big PG like Rubio or Hill, it's clear we have a need for another long defender. Ingram just shoot over Royce all night long. Gordon and Derozan just blew past our perimeter defense over and over. Rudy can't cover all mistakes.

Adding a capable defender should be a priority. If you want, you can sit Conley and replace him with 6'4 Clarkson or Mudiay. But they are not going to solve our perimeter defense.

Honestly man Rubio was way better than this **** Conley has brought to our team.

I like Rubio but people forget he was terrible the first couple of months here. In December 2017 he averaged 9ppg, 4.5apg on 38% shooting, 24% from 3. He found his groove in late February and was really good moving forward. His shooting in the playoffs really regressed though.

Brogdon or Dinwiddie would have been great additions but were not available to us.

If we’re going to play this game, then let’s make it known that had the Jazz not given Exum his exorbitant, undeserved contract that the Jazz would’ve very easily been in the market for Brogdon and Bogdanovic.

Sure. You are not going to find anyone left on this board who thinks that contract was a good idea. Beating a dead horse at this point.

all points taken, he still brought more than concrappy.

At least Rubio brought chemistry if nothing else.

Who was it that knocked him on his *** and the team rallied around it?

That doesn't happen with Conley, and he goes down a lot.
It was Teague in Min and Chriss in Phx lol (actually happened twice)

Yeah and those were cheap shots. Something that hasn't had to Conley here so I wasn't exactly fair with the comparison. But at least Rubio defended himself. Not sure how Conley would do in a brawl.

That's the mojo that Conley takes away from the team. Toughness and grit.

Those brawls over Rubio really brought the team together.

You're not wrong. Honestly, this team is soft like toilet paper.

I think it was Dudley after Chris's missed a dunk attempt
The players are irrelevant. Point is, that all goes a different direction with Conley. First of all, they are not taking a cheap shot at Mike because he's the nicest guy and plays nice, plus he's small. Good dude, but lacks grit. Rubio brought that fire and that bonded the chemistry of the team.

Uh, what are you talking about? Go argue with someone else. You asked about the incident and who were the players involved. I'm just pointing out that it was Dudley and not Chris. But whatever, keep your Conley is soft/Rubio is though thinking.
