I'm ready to end the experiment. Let's call it how it is: he wasted both Rudy in his prime and Donovan on his rookie contract. The best he could do was a 5th seed.

Instead of addressing our need of an athletic 3 and D stretch 4, he's obtained the likes of Niang, Jeff Green, Ed freaking Davis, and Bradley to makeup our front court.

We aren't athletic, long, or tough enough. The roster as currently constructed isn't good enough to contend in the West.

Because of the elite homerism by the local media hyping up the team every year, fans will have a false sense of hope that the team will contend. If that were the case they would have kept Rubio and Favors. They tried something different. Doesn't look like it's working. They will try again next offseason.

different how? we took one step forward then another step back. so we are now back to where we started. that's basically the same as not moving your feet at all.

we add more offense by subtracting it from defense. it sums up to zero. the real way to do something different is to add values without subtraction, which is not what the FO has accomplished this past offseason at all.

then next year they will realize our lack of size, hustle and toughness are problems then will again "try something different" by getting rid of conley and bojan, bringing back crowder and favs. you see where this is going?

WTF are they supposed to do? This is the same think every team is doing. Try to bring in the best players possible, and get as good as possible. Would you rather they stuck with Rubio, Favors and Crowder? Sorry they didn't just sign every FA all star available.

that is simply not true. what other teams have done are overall net improvement. that is adding values to their one of their offense/defense weakness areas without much hurting the rest. that is how to properly fix a problem and improve your team.

what our FO has done this past summer instead was fixing one problem by creating a whole new different problem. that is not called improvement my friend.

like i agree we need more shooting on this team and even agree with the logic behind letting go of rubio, crowder and even Favs, but you simply don't do it for bojan and conley. those guys are better offensive talents but much worse on defense. adding them while losing Favs/rubio/Crowder doesn't create any net positive value to this team. in some sense, we actually lost more than we gained. you can tread water as hard as you can but you aren't going anywhere. so might as well just do a deadman's float.

if you want real improvement through trade/exchange of talents, at least do it for the right players(let's not talk about how much DL has overpaid in that conley's trade its not even funny). or else just keep what you have then try your luck in the draft/FA

Slow and steady keeps butts in the seats. That is their goal. They are exceedingly good at it.

I get what you’re saying but you also want to make sure that the changes made to the roster aren’t too disruptive. The eye test tells me that the team was much tighter last season, and basically they’ve gone from defense first and unselfish offense to something very different that isn’t getting the results against the top teams.

They got rid of character players that would bring it night in and night out, and the team’s overall psychological toughness has consequently dropped. That’s what I see at least.

They completely whiffed on the fit they thought Conley would be. Not to mention the massive overpay. Pretty inexcusable considering how much time in the league Lindsey, Zanik and Conley has had.

I agree, it hasn't worked out and they need to make changes next year. They knew they were taking a step back defensively, they just over estimated how much Rudy would make up for it.

I have issues with how DL has drafted but I still think he drafts better than most GMs and he has the homeruns that you can't **** with.

He's an average GM that's had some draft luck.

There are very few true visionary GMs in the league so its not a huge knock when I call DL average. Guys that pioneer new ideas and theories and have the guts to go at them whole heartedly. The rest are copycats or follow another "model". You should good knowledge and things from other organizations, but if that is the basis for what you do then you never get out ahead of the competition.

The guy that I would have loved to see get a few more years is Hinkie… he was 100% right but was way too honest about what they were doing and called too much attention to it and the league intervened. He won every trade... some by a landslide... he missed on few picks but that's okay. I don't know what phase 2/3 of what he wanted to do was or if it was going to be successful, but getting top tier talent in the draft is the only real proven, reliable model that most franchises can use.

The Conley acquisition is turning into the first thing someone should mention when discussing DL’s vision and tendencies. The deal in itself is a stinker, but when you frame it within the history of spending on George Hill and Ricky Rubio, it has all the force and effect of rebuild-killing inadequacies.
