Game Thread Dec 26, 2020: Jazz vs. Wolves

Added to Calendar: 12-26-20

No shots hitting today. This happen some day when we are main offense on 3 pointers.

Still I have confidence in team even after down 10-15. They make close game.

Early year I was no confidence in team even up 20 points

Bogie is winner hitter. Quin why pass him inbounds!! Bogie knows get free and shoot. No one get free this time.

This learning game, but disappoint Quin. Keep eye on Quin now.

So we used our only first round draft pick to draft a 4th string center huh? Gobert-favors-morgan-dok.
Jazz bucking the trend of drafting guys to contribute.

Yeah, especially when he was "the #1 rated prospect on the board" when he was drafted.

I defended the pick but now I’m wondering what even was the point. Do we not even want to try to draft someone who might be able to contribute right away?

Anyways, we had no business even being in this game tonight I’m not worried about us at all. Bad shooting night and tons of turnovers. Still almost had a shot to tie to go to OT. Definitely encouraging, we will be fine.

We lost this game because of Don and Bogey shooting like absolute ***. That’s it.

But I actually would have liked to see a little Dok on KAT. Favors didn’t fare too well against KAT.

A loss to the T-Wolves is a strong reminder that we are not at all a contender.

The Jazz were awful on defense the first half. Did better the second half, but can’t put yourself in a hole like that.

Edwards looked good. I‘ll be really interested to see how he plays over the course of the season.

Rubbish turnovers. They need to stop force feeding the Center on the pick and roll as it almost always leads to a turnover and points for the other team.

A missed shot attempt is better than just handing the ball over to the other team with no attempt at all... Also early in the game we were giving up open threes to drive to the basket instead.

Some of the turnovers we had were just inexcusable.

Donovan and Mike Conley are rubbish together.

Can’t even imagine how dumb somebody would have to be to think the discrepancy in 3 point percentage isn’t the problem in a game where the opposing team’s 3 point percentage is double ours on heavy volume.

You are a complete and utter moron, aren’t you? You’re the one who singularly stated that the three point shooting was the reason for our deficit. It wasn’t the problem. It was one of the problems.

Looking at the bright side, the Jazz played terribly for most of the night and still had a shot at victory. This is still a really good team. Too bad, our hopes of a perfect season have been squashed. Well, I guess that we have to settle for 71-1.

and here is the problem that will eventually make our dreams fall short.

too much time for Royce and Ingles. It's not that they are bad players its how they are used.
Its like when Favors was here before. Good player, but we were always limited with him as our starter.
Now in this backup role he's great.

Ingles and Royce aren't bad players. They make plays, have good games, etc. But they have this huge role on the team, and just
aren't good enough. Royce hustles, that's not the issue. He's undersized, inconsistent shooter, and gets destroyed on screens.

Last night Royce did make some positive plays, some awesome plays really (in a night of not many), but he got beat so many times on defence it
really just negates his impact.

With all our 3 point shooting we do miss someone like JJ Reddick or Korver who can shoot on a run in a split second. If you play physical defense on perimeter against us we struggle to get good looks. If adding to that Donovan is inefficient on his drives we are in trouble. Still, not much to cry about, it just looked more as one of those nights when nothing goes well and we were close anyway. **** it, forget it and on to the next one.

Why no Ingles in on the last offensive play?
Bet they wanted to inbound to Clarkson and had a play set up to either get him a shot, or to get it back to the inbounder (Bogey).

Only reason that makes sense to use Bogey as an inbounder over anyone else on the team as he is the worst passer on the team.

81-1 blitches.

Nice to see Conley play decent (+9) while other did not .

Too many turnovers as well. They took care of the ball and hit their shots and we lost despite our aggressive play (20 offensive rebounds - nice).

Athletic defensive wings is our kryptonite. Plus the three point shot has a high variance. If we shoot it well, then yes the average favors us, but what if we have a super high average one game, and then a dud like this one several times in a row?
