What's new

Rumor: Warriors have interest in trading for Ingles if made available by the jazz.

But getting rid of playmakers seems like exactly the wrong direction to go in, especially with our limited super max player.
Maybe they noticed that the Ingles-Gobert matchup wasn't really getting us anywhere during this playoffs (Rudy was strong with on/off numbers; Joe not so much) and decided it's worth the gamble. Maybe they've decided it's Joe who needs Rudy more than Rudy needs Joe. I'm not really sure.

They can’t do anything with Moody until 30 days after they’ve signed him, right?

This seems to make way more sense as a draft night thing. Very possible that it was already discussed and no agreement could be reached.

Well the other thing is that they probably need Moody’s salary to make it work under the CBA, so this move on draft night probably wasn’t possible.

Given what's gone down so far, I'm kind of thinking that changing the identity of the team (at least somewhat) may be the directive from the top (Smith/Wade). Think we're just going to have to get used to it.
I dont think so. I think that's a big reason why they targeted Butler. He's a guy who could become a playmaker. If we didnt draft him I would be really pessimistic on this front, but at least we have someone with potential down the road. Still need to get another guy in that mold though.

Yeah, I get the Butler pick. That's why I said changing the style somewhat rather than completely. We still need ball movers/shooters. But relatively more priority seems to be going toward the ability to create your own shot. The relationship between Butler and Gobert will be rather different from the one between Ingles and Gobert.

One year rental of Jingles is not gonna be enough to convince the Warriors to give us Moody. It would have to take one of JC or Bogey to move the needle. But then it would make sense for us only if we wanna tear it down and start rebuild.

Does Joe have enough in the tank to be a playmaker anymore? Jingles is one of my favorite players of all time. But man, he seemed dead towards the end of last season.

Trade Ingles, it's his last year and get some value for him before he retire. He's been disappearing in the playoffs lately, probably due to fatigue. Dude also was running his mouth to Playoff P and pissed him off then lit Joe's a** up.

I’ve been thinking about this too, but I’ve also been extremely vocal about the absolute necessity of keeping Joe in tip-top shape for years. He cannot be a work-horse for us in the regular season anymore.

Last year specifically, he was playing the best basketball of his career and playing fewer minutes than usual. Then the injuries came, and because the Jazz didn’t have enough playmaking depth, it all fell on Joe like a ton of bricks.

If we can use Butler to take some burden off of Conley, Joe, and Donovan, then I think that’s a HUGE benefit and could change our prospects. But if we keep having this paper-thin depth that falls through then they should honestly trade Conley and Ingles as soon as they can and aggressively re-tool.

The FO is getting Quin some depth and versatility that the team lacked last year. If he falls back into habits of Thibsing our main guys then he should go. And I suspect he will in that case.

I’m coming around as well, my concern was that I had no idea if Moody was good on D or not. Seems like he is.

im still hesitant to ship Joe. Yes he’s older and slowing down, but his versatility just makes so much work for the team. And yes, I think the hit to chemistry would be huge. I’m also skeptical they’d send out Moody just for one year of Joe.

if Joe isn’t enough, is it possible/doable/wise to send Bogie instead?

He was terrific offensively in the Clippers series. We ran him into the ground the last few weeks of the season because Don and Mike were both hurt and he was our only ballhandler. That won't happen now that we added Butler to the roster.

I don't think it's possible. Bogey's contract is too big and it would be almost impossible for Golden State to match salaries.

Oubre is still very noticeably unaccounted for.

What about a sign-and-trade of Oubre and Mooses Muddy for Bogey?

Is that possible? Or does being over the apron prohibit that?

If that’s possible, I’d do that deal even if we are throwing in future seconds.
