How are you seeing minutes distributed this year? Mine shooting from the hip… I’ll look at feasibility later, but a lot of this is accounting for injuries and what not.

Donovan 33
Rudy 30
Mike 30
Royce 30
Bojan 30
Clarkson 25
Ingles 24
Gay 20
Whiteside 19
Butler 15 (60 games)
Paschall 12 (~50 games)

Last year our 9 man rotation averaged a total of 241.1 minutes per game. The first 9 I have in the OP are averaging 242, so not a bad guess. Biggest difference is a more even distribution and Gay playing more than Niang and Whiteside playing more than Favors.

He needs to be 20 at most or we can only play him every 5th game. And he needs to sit the last 30 games of the season. Then he might play half the playoff games.
Bro, you’re obviously still hurtin’ pretty bad. 27-28 is good. No b2bs. Pick up the load management down the stretch.

We had to re-sign Mike. And this isn’t a bad program.

Rudy (33) / Whiteside (13) / Gay (2) / Dok (0)
Royce (22) / Gay (18) / Paschall (8)
Bojan (28) / Ingles (16) / Royce (4) / Hughes (0)
Mitchell (22) / Clarkson (24) / Oni (2)
Conley (28) / Ingles (7) / Mitchell (13) / Butler (0)

Or, cut Oni, move Hughes to the 2 and move Brantley to the 3.

This looks about right to me except I wont be at all surprised if Gay gets no minutes at the 5 most night.

I just hope Butler and Paschall get some minutes. I have a lot of faith in both of them.

I tweaked it a little. I'm trying to think what the lineup looks like when Ingles is playing PG. Should be Ingles/Clarkson/Royce /Gay/Whiteside.

Butler is 100% not getting any minutes unless we are getting blown out or we are doing the blow out

Don't get me wrong, half the playoff games would be double what he played this year. But it will take locking him away for 3 months at the end of the season so he doesn't Boozer his hammy or anything.

This is what I expect for an all healthy, no garbage time game:
Conley(30) Ingles (8) Mitchell (10)
Mitchell (26) Clarkson (22)
Royce (28) Ingles (20)
Bogey (28) Gay (20)
Gobert (34) Whiteside (14)

It would be great if Quin expanded his rotation a little to limit some of these minutes. I do expect he'll try and find some space in the rotation for Paschall (depending on the matchup). I'm hoping Butler is who we think he is and takes over the Oni role of playing when one of our guards are out. I think there are some regular rotation minutes for Butler that would greatly benefit Conley and Ingles, but I don't see Quin moving away from a 9 man rotation.

Bro he played 29 minutes a game the last 2 years and could manage to play in 2/3 of the games. It seems like sarcasm, but he's probably not far off. Conley will probably need to play significantly less minutes unless his hammy undergoes some healing miracle. Especially if you want him for 3 more ****ing years. Conley has never been anything near an ironman and he's obviously aging.

I listened to Locke for once and got a little worried- I'm not sure Whiteside is effective at 15 minutes a game. He's been most effective at 30 minutes. He obviously wont be playing 30 minutes a game for the jazz, but hopefully he can be effective at around 20. I don't think Rudy plays over 30, he's settled in pretty good.

What did Locke say?

What did Locke say?
It was in his podcast with Boone- he said basically what I just said- Whiteside has not been highly effective at 15 minutes a game like in SAC last year. He's been more effective and engaged when he plays higher minutes - around 30 minutes a game like in Portland and Miami.
Locke didn't say this, but I also wonder if the Jazz are experimenting with the idea that Rudy is expendable.

1. There's no way the Jazz are experimenting with the idea that Rudy is expendable. If they were, Whiteside wouldn't have been the afterthought. And he wouldn't have been the second guy they were looking at. Of course, they could do this indirectly. The reality is, is that if we feel we can get more traction without Rudy, then there's no other team who will value him more than us and we're not going to get any kind of equal value for his contract and would be getting a lot of garbage salary attached.

2. Regarding Whiteside not playing well in 15 minutes per game, we only really have one season to look at there with an absolutely terrible franchise. It's too hard to determine what the variable is there. And on any team he's been on, they're not prioritizing the type of game he has that puts him into a defense where he can succeed. In any case, I believe he probably plays 18-20 minutes per game. When Gobert is healthy it's 18. If we're really blowing people out his minutes only go up a little bit because maybe they give Udoka some burn. If Rudy's out then he moves into 25-28-ish minutes,
