2021 Free Agency

So is AD the 4 full time? Dwight, Gasol, DJ. Gotta find minutes for Melo at the 4, too.

I noticed the Nets waived Alize Johnson. He had 23 points 15 boards vs the Jazz last year and in another NBA game this past year he had 20 points 21 boards. Would he be better than Brantley?

Can't shoot from distance all that well. His defense isn't anything to write home about. But his rebounding and energy at that spot would be interesting. You'd think it would be enough to secure him a spot somewhere. Kind of like Faried in a SF's body. Wonder if he'll get picked up on the waiver wire before he becomes a FA.

Is there any world we could get Pascal Siakam? I would trade anything not Gobert or Mitchell for him, but I am sure they are not going to trade him and if they do we cant match better offers.

If the Jazz sign Exum then aren't the Jazz doing the Clarkson vs. Exum calculus again? It's a diminished role so maybe it would be Favors part 2. But yeah...come to think about it...it would be a move that the Jazz culturally do make.

Lakers gonna get their eighth all-star Deandre Jordan as it seems. Is that the record for most allstars on one team?

Good get by the Nets in Sekou btw. The kid has all the tools but just couldn’t figure things out. With Harden/Kyrie creating all the space for him, the kid could embrace the same career year like Bruce Brown had last season.

The Spurs just waived Chandler Hutchison a 6'7" SF big guard, He was a first round pick taken one selection after the Jazz selected Grayson Allen. He has played for the Bulls and Wiz and was part of the megateam Westbrook trade. His contract is guaranteed so once he clears waivers he could be signed for the minimum.

We're not getting Siakam...but we should be thinking about a consolidation move. Trading two (three?) of Bogey, Ingles, O'Neale, Clarkson for one player that is better. It's a difficult trade to make and the opportunity likely won't present itself, but it something we should be open to and seek every opportunity to do so.

I have 0 interest in trading Ingles, O’Neale, or Clarkson in any kind of packaged deal for one player deemed an upgrade. First, chances are it’s fools gold, and second only an obvious upgrade will make us better and no one is giving us an obvious ant miss upgrade.

Yeah, there is 0% chance at him, but it would be great. I still think we really need one more player. We need an athletic 2 way guy that's a 3 or 4. I don't know about consolidating but I do think we need to make one more trade.

Unless we get lucky, like last year and basically every team sucks or gets injured opening an easy path and we don't choke. I think we are slightly better this year and being healthy would make a huge difference. But I don't quite see it happening for this roster.

Yeah…I’d say my interest in upgrading the roster is above zero percent. No idea why we should rule out a chance to upgrade the team if it presents itself. What does fools gold even mean here? The current roster has done nothing but look like fools gold and embarrass themself year after year.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who realizes this…but this team has historically horrific collapses back to back season. Who the hell are we to have zero interest in upgrading?

What are we even talking about lol. We don’t want an upgrade because it might not actually be an upgrade? And staying pat is a sure thing…maybe for another epic playoff embarrassment.

It won’t be Siakam…but opportunities do pop out of nowhere sometimes. Out of Bogey, Ingles, and Clarkson only one of them will close games and possibly none of them if Gay pans out. It should be obvious that we pounce on any opportunity to consolidate and upgrade.

I’m with you on the last point. I’m not going to blame people for being excited…but this is pretty much the same roster. The impact players are the same. I’ve seen enough embarrassment the last two playoffs…I don’t believe in this roster or Quin. I really don’t think Gay being a talent upgrade over Niang is going to be the difference.

It means we won’t get close to equal value for those players, and what they bring to this team.

The Clips waived Yogi today. Also the Big 3 had their championship game yesterday with three Jazz alums playing. Big Al and Joe Jesus played for the runner up team and Kevin Murphy had 29 points for the champion. I wonder if Murph has any juice left?

Asking if Kevin Murphy has any juice left reminds me of Major League board meeting:

Board member: I've never heard of half these guys and the ones I do know are way past their prime.
Charlie Donovan: Most of these guys never had a prime.

I had to look him up. He was involved in the trade with Golden State that lead to the tank. Then he began a career that lead to the GLeague and overseas. He was named first team DLeague with Willie Reed, Bryce Cotton, Erick Green, Jack Cooley, Elliot Williams and Seth Curry who might be familiar to Jazz fans, went to China and scored 67 points in a game there, resurfaced in training camp only to be cut along with Brock Motum and Dee Bost after those three were the leading scorers in a preseason game (shades of NWG). He is currently the leading scorer in a league in Baharain.
