What's new

Game Thread Oct 20, 2021 07:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Thunder

Added to Calendar: 10-20-21

Not much to say about the returning guys. We played against a team who isn’t trying to win. We dominated and that’s how it should be.

Whiteside - Hit and miss. A very Whiteside game. He is who he is for better or worse.

Paschall - He’s playing the right way to fit in and has some skills/physical ability, but in order to fit in he has to excel at things he’s been terrible at in his career: defense and 3 point shooting. His defense has been fine, but OKC is playing a lot of non NBA talent. No indicators that his shooting has improved unfortunately.

Butler - First game jitters….it’s also going to be very hard for him to be the 3rd or 4th ball handlers in lineups. He seems like a rhythm player and hard to get into a good flow playing short stints without getting the ball much. Nice to see him get some minutes though.

I was thinking the same thing… easily could have had a line change with like 6 minutes left. I was wondering where Doke was. The “enforcer” wasn’t looking all that great.

Had some nice buckets around the rim.

I think it's the fans bias, or the fact that we are spoiled with Gobert that we expect our backup big to come in and play like a 3x DPOY. Whiteside kept the ship afloat, thats what matters.

Nice way to start the season. Rudy and JC were both amazing tonight. Donovan showed he can still turn it on in a blink of an eye. Conley, Joe, Bogey and O'neal looked great, and I was pleased with Paschall.

I'm a bit worried about Whiteside's defense. It seems like every other year, when Rudy leaves, the interior defense turns into gargabe. I'll give him time before I judge too harshly though. Butler definetely looked like a kid playing his first game, but I'm still optimistic he will be the steal of the draft.
We could still have Favors who can't throw a rock into the ocean.

Bogey looking good out there which is a great sign.
Rudy dominating at times.
JC and ingles solid.

Royce my god. He gets such a pass from the media and fans. He's so overused. He should be a back up energy guy on a championship contending team.

But at least we upgraded Niang.

Favors is done. I hope he finds some type of roll on a rebuilding OKC team. Seems like his career is fading out.

I was talking somewhat tic- wasn’t necessarily hating on him. With 5 fouls though I was thinking Doke might get some burn especially during garbage time.

-Loved that Quin found some minutes for Butler, even though he played like garbage.
- I'm not sure Ingles and Whiteside lineups will work.
- Defense looked good, but OKC offense is horrible. Mitchell seems committed to being a better defender, which might end up being the most significant improvement this team was capable of making.

Fun to see Jazz basketball back. Liked the improved effort on D. Clarkson has been chilling in the preseason games, nice to see his typical "wtf magic buckets" again, once the real game started.

There were a handful of defensive plays where he looked like total dog ****, braugh. Don’t get twisted.

No ****. Great point. There is only one reason for anyone with poor eyesight not to get lasik. Cause you can't afford it. I'm pretty sure Donovan can afford.
This makes me think Donovan might be kind of a dumbass
I will never get lasik.
