Joe Ingles Appreciation Thread (Edit: Confirmed ACL, Out for Season)

Yeah, I have no idea where this is headed now. Would love it if it was the event that brought everyone the proper perspective and really crystalized all the lessons they should know by now, but my gut feeling right now is that this might totally fall apart. I hope my dread is misplaced, but y'all, it's been real good the last 5 years. Even when we thought it was bad.
I am fully expecting this team to implode like an old Vegas casino on demolition day. I just want to get the season over with.

I didn't want to say it because I didn't want to be dramatic, but that's how I've felt all day. It's a distinct sense of loss.
I honestly don't know the last time I was brought to the brink of all-out bawling so much about a single issue. I feel deep regret and almost remorse for not enjoying the last five years more. Holy hell, there have been some awesome ****ing times. The '17-'18 season will be nearly impossible to beat, and no one thought that team was a real contender. There are other things than championships, though.

I'm sure everyone has watched this to death, but this series just hits me in the feel goods like The Shot.

Look how hard this team played, look how fierce they fought for each other, listen to that crowd. And this dude that everyone thought was some scrub brought in to be Exum's buddy is the beating heart of it.

One of the best series ever. Ingles just made PG his bitch. Loved it!

I fear for the locker room. Some players made statements alluding to it, but I think he helped bring the team together and helped to keep potential conflicts from boiling over. With this losing streak and no Joe I think things could go sideways.
Joe was the glue that kept Don and Rudy together after whatever happened in the lockerroom between Don and Rudy around covid.

These are fragile times.

Not much left to say. Our Iron Man for so long. With Mitchell and Conley injuries last season, no way we get 52 wins last year without him. Runner up for 6th man award last year. As we all know, one day you wake up and your body has just had enough. Happened sooner for Joe due to extended mileage IMO.

I bet Quin feels terrible. Quin and Joe have been together from the very beginning. I remember hearing something from Joe on the radio about Quin texting him about game strategy in the middle of the night lol

Agreed, my guess he's beside himself, he's lost his on court coach, man who steadies the locker room, Joe would run through walls for Quin.

Thanks Joe.

I am very happy for Joe and you Ozzies for this, it is hard-fought and well-deserved.

I am also bitter about it because I believe Joe's injury is partly fall-out from him being in the Olympics and not working on recovery and preparation for the season the way he should have.

Is an Olympic Bronze worth missing out on an NBA championship?

That is a tough call, tbpfhwy.

From Tony Jones' latest article. Sounds like the trade rumors were taking a toll on him. Probably explains some of his horrible shooting over the past month or so. Prior to the Golden State game on New Years day he was shooting around 40% from 3, since then he's been in the worst shooting slump of his entire career.

Ingles is someone who has always deeply cared about his craft and has always loved to play the game. He’s always been fiercely loyal to the Jazz. He’s known about the possibility of a trade for some weeks now, and that may have had some impact on his play on the court over the last month. But without a contract for next season, an NBA return may be difficult. It’s feasible that the Jazz can trade the contract and re-sign Ingles in the offseason to a smaller deal, but that’s looking six months ahead.

This really surprises me but if it's what he wants then I'll be rooting for him to make a full recovery and comeback. I really thought he'd just hang it up and head back to Australia.

Show him loyalty by not trading him. Use our assets to find a young player. Don't get a bandaid like Convington.
