What's new

Jazz acquire NAW and Juancho Hernangomez for Ingles, Hughes, and two 2nd round picks.

Ben anderson was on the radio talking about this trade and loved it. He also said that he feels certain that the jazz aren't done and mentioned Gay, Clarkson and a first for Barnes being a possibility.

Talk about coming from left field. I can’t believe we did this. I am ****ing ecstatic. Grabbing NAW is huge.
His offensive numbers are putrid this year. I do hope that changes now that he’s leaving a bad team for a good one, since you seem to know about him, is he a good, decent, average defender at least?

Here’s my unsolicited opinion on this trade:

Two parents have a sick child. She’s running a fever of 102 and she’s really uncomfortable, unable to rest. The wife has been trying to take care of her all day and sends the husband to the store to get Tylenol so that hopefully she can reduce the fever enough to allow some comfort and for her to get some sleep. The girl doesn’t need anything fancy, just a bottle of $3.99 Tylenol and it can even be the Equate brand. The husband comes home with a new flavor of Doritos to try and some mints that were really cheap. The wife asks where the Tylenol is and, honestly, he totally forgot. But not to worry, he got the Doritos and mints essentially for free because he had a gift card that was going to expire and he essentially got the goods for nothing. Besides, Walmart may have not had any Tylenol, anyway.

The Doritos may be good. They may really hit the spot. But anyone who tells you how good they may taste is being willfully obtuse.

I don’t really see it this way at all.

It’s more like the dad ran to the store with $4 with the expectation of getting the $3.99 generic Tylenol. The mom doesn’t have much faith in him to bring back what he’s supposed to. Not only does he come back with the Tylenol he comes back with the name brand that was on sale for $2.99. He got more than expected and saved some money while he was at it.

I think this deal was about getting SOMETHING for Ingles' expiring. Now the Jazz are in position to move Clarkson, either Gay or Hernangomez, plus a pick for a more significant player. Rudy Gay at the 5 hasn't worked at all, and the Jazz can play Paschall as a backup at the 4. Hernangomez is playable, kind of like Ilyasova last year.
