Jazz vs. Mavs in round one

A clear scheduling BS move though just means the NBA is looking more and more like WWE... Also they should not tempt the basketball gods... they already did it once.
I think Luka is likely to miss Game 3, which should be in 9 days. Either way, the Jazz really should win the first two games. Mavs will have to play Brunson and Dinwiddie, and our guards should be able to score. Jazz should also do well on the boards.

There are a lot of thoughts but I think it comes down to these main points....

- Soft tissue injuries are tricky... can't brace it or shoot up some pain killers and go for it. You will reinjure or maybe even do worse. KD is the prime example.
- He may be able to come back in less than 10-14 days, but from what I read he is at high risk for re-injury.
- This is the type of injury where you'd want to be pain free for a week or so before you test it... and when you test it you will find out if its ready... you will be notified that you failed the test when it gives out again.

Pure speculation... he misses at least 2 games. If he comes back earlier I think he's at an extremely high risk to reinjure. If they split the games in Dallas I think he sits game 3 too... if we go up 0-2 then i think he may give it a go in the danger zone.

If we are smart we put him in every defensive action... he has a huge offensive load and we should really test how strong that muscle is. No ****ing mercy if you decide to strap it up we come for your neck.
Whenever he comes back we need to target him specifically. I hope we don't give them easy time. Make him move, make him switch, make him chase, make him recover.... Don't let him sit in the corner on defense ...

My guess is that it will be:

Saturday Game 1
Tuesday Game 2
Friday Game 3
Sunday Game 4

A normal schedule would be:
Saturday, Game 1
Monday, Game 2
Thursday, Game 3 (extra day off for travel)
Saturday, Game 4

Maybe they push Game 4 back to Sunday if the TV schedule is full, but the extra day is usually for travel.

Jazz should be thinking in terms of taking a 3-0 series lead over the next 9 or 10 days.

Bro, we're going to drop a House on him.

The amount of minutes he plays, the load on offense, and having to work on defense (or they completely go away from their scheme and play zone) would put so much stress on a muscle that won't be 100% healed. I'd consider doing some trapping... anything that makes him make a bunch of moves and work to get the ball back. And of course you pick him up full court so he has to work just to get the ball over the line. No cheap shots of course but if people aren't questioning how ethical the approach is then you may not have pushed it far enough.

We have to be like Brett the Hitman Hart and go for the knee kicks before throwing him into the sharpshooter.

I think Luka is going to miss Games 1, 2 and 3, which will all happen within the next 10 days. At that point, if the Jazz are up 3-0, Luka will be done for the summer.

Without Luka, the Mavs become a team like the Wizards.

Yeah, okay lol. Dude is in a walking boot.
The boot tells me nothing. If he was a regular dude then wearing a boot would be a sign... as an athlete though you have to do the maximum amount to protect it. The boot immobilizes it and may prevent some stress or misstepping and injuring himself.

If he was on a scooter or in a wheel chair then I might be a little more judgey... but even then I wouldn't blame him for putting zero stress on it help it heal faster.

The way they are talking I think is totally just an attempt to fake us out. I doubt we see him until game 3 or after.

Ummmm didn't we lose to the Wizards 1 out of 2 times this year?

Quin doesn’t find that honorable. Sorry.

Yeah, and swept last year. 1-3. That’s enough Ls to get bumped from a 90s first round series.
I just think its hilarious for anyone that has watched this team that we would beat an inferior opponent 3 straight times... and then use the team we split the series with.

Dallas didn't have Luka in the Christmas game and they were competitive for a long while... Dinwiddie has given them a boost and Bertans smacked us on one of those games too. Its just kinda wild to assume we go 3-0 against the Luka-less Mavs. I'll bet in most simulations it would be 2-1.... if we are a title contender we'd go 3-0 but that ship has sailed imo.

Yeah, but we're leaner, meaner and more focused now. Seriously, Dinwidde and Brunson can only go off for so much. Maybe they combine for 50 or 60 points, and maybe Bertans shoots 8-for-8 from 29 feet, but I don't see how the Mavs can score enough without Luka in the lineup.

Based on what?

Locke just said that luka had zero FIELD GOAL ATTEMPTS at the rim/in the paint while gobert was on the court. He was 0-3 from within 6 feet.
He scurred bros
