Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

If it was truly about money why wouldn’t they re-sign him and trade a worse player to get under the luxury tax?
If they extend Ayton they'd be sitting at $160M in salary cap while someone like Myles Turner or Vuc would put them under the tax line...

They'd have to trade two of Crowder, Saric, Payne, Shamet, or Johnson while taking $0 back to get under the tax.

I think all 3 trades are better than staying put. I have serious concerns in our new coach getting exactly the same level out of Rudy. We know Rudy is good, but does a new system make him look less dominant and thus make him less valuable?

The time to trade him is now.

Which is why I think it will be Bryant or Jensen, two coaches that have coached Rudy before.

Right.. and the luxury tax is right at 149M.

Would you rather call up OKC and offer a pick to take Saric’s contract off your hands and duck the tax or trade Ayton for a worse player like Turner or Vucevic?

Basically Ayton minus a pick vs Vucevic or Turner.. not really close in my opinion.. which is why it’s more than just the money my man.

How about a deal with Phoenix to get them a real 3rd guard and bring us back some more D from the forward spots?

Clarkson/Juancho or Gay for Crowder/Shamet

Maybe we can talk them into adding some sort of pick value for taking the extra Shamet salary we'd be taking?

Ayton for Gobert doesn't work, he only counts for like half money going out.

That Washington Conley mention would be robbery on our part Avdija looks great.

They'd have to trade two players without taking any salary back to get under the luxury tax line if they max out Ayton. They'd also have very limited salary flexibility for the next 3 years because Ayton/CP3/Booker/Bridges would already put them over the cap.

If the owner was really that cheap about going into the tax by a few million for a chance to win a title I don’t know what to say. Regardless Ayton won’t be back there.

They've realized that their current team isn't good enough to win a title and maxing Ayton isn't going to bring them closer to contention it just limits any flexibility they have going forward.

If they’ve realized that why aren’t they moving Booker and Paul too? Any Ayton deal unless for a star like Gobert makes you worse.
