Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

- The Jazz were reportedly “blown away” by Will Hardy. I can’t imagine that he wowed them by laying out some run of the mill, “hey, let’s run it back” type of plan.
Or he sold them on how he can get more out of our current group after he helped Udoka get the Celtics to the finals after flaming out in the 1st last year.

The Hawks can probably offer the best package of win-now players if they want.

Huerter/Collins/Hunter/Capella/Bogdanovic

If you wanted rookie contract players who have potential there's also Shariffe Cooper, AJ Griffin, Jalen Johnson, Okungwu.

Would be a depressing trade partner IMO because it would be more of a signal towards not tanking, but they could still do it.

On ESPN 700 Andy Larsen said the Jazz are aggressively shopping Mike, Royce and Clarkson. Said they're likely looking for a late first for Royce. He's heard Philly is interested in JC. He doesn't seem to think a Rudy deal is close to happening.
Thank god Clarkson's name is finally coming up in trade rumors.

I will like Hardy way more if he's actually committed to building a team of passers, because trading Clarkson would be the first step in that.

All good things.

Morey loves and believes in iso scorers... so JC makes sense there philosophically.

Clarkson for Thybulle/Niang/Korkmaz saves us 500K and eats up two roster spots which also will save us 1.8M off the salary cap so in total 2.3M.

We’d be at 147.7M with 12 players and the luxury tax is likely to be at 150.6M or so. We sign someone using part of the MLE for about 2.9M/year.

We made a trade, we signed someone using part of the MLE and magically we’re under the luxury tax. How did that happen? Weird.

Terrible fit with Trae. It’s reminiscent of Harden and Russ but with better, less selfish guys involved. Two ball dominant guards and one of the two can’t shoot. That’s a problem.
Murray at least defends and you can stagger their minutes but he needs to be on the ball. Might not be the worst thing to push Trae or the ball more though.

The jazz could’ve offered a similar package for Murray with Bojan but trading our 2024 1st do dump favors ensured we can’t trade our 2023/2025 picks lol
