Donovan's Defense

I didn't say it's not an issue. Obviously It is. It separates him from being a top tier player, which obviously affect his team's ceiling.
Only said I'm not going to held it against him given the specific frame of circumstances in which the issue happened.
That's what alot of us are saying. You trade a guy who made the team dramatically better. To build around a guy who 99% of the world believes wants to go to a new team. Plus that guy already plays like he's got special privileges to do what he wants and if he gets mad the team makes moves to keep him happy.

Rudy gives 100% effort. Even though he isn't as skilled he doesn't quit trying. Mitchell straight up ignores Rudy when he's wide open.
Mitchell is now know as one of the worst defensive players in the nba. Defense is 85% effort. That's why.

Likely because Donovan can't stand Rudy averaging 20

The difference between Rudy's O and Don's D is that Rudy's offensive makes others better. Don's D makes teammates worse
Good way to put it. Both are bad but one is bad in a way that isn't bad for the team as evidenced by the #1 rated offense in the league.

Donovan Mitchell playing good defense is similar to Ronnie Brewer hitting a 3.

Does it happen every now and then? Sure

Is anyone confident in it happening consistently? Hell no

Blasphemous.

I liked Ronnie. He was the best he could be. Donnie’s not.

That said, trading him that one year ****ed us imo.

So funny that Rudy homers have just created this entire narrative that Don never tries on defense.

Could he try and do better? Absolutely. He never tries ever? - just more and more lies.
