Beverley to Lakers for THT and Stanley Johnson

THT is rotational. He plays defense. He can also drive a little bit. Seems like a Danny Ainge-type player.

In no world is Pat Beverly at 34 worth a first round pick. Maybe and I mean a real maybe at the deadline if a team is desperate and assuming Pat has been playing hard for the Jazz and not making a scene about playing for a tanking team its possible to get a really late first.

Getting a young player with a little bit of upside is about as good as you get. Maybe you could get a second as well, but meh. THT could play really well and be traded again right? Worst case he sucks and we have to pay him 11 million next season. Who cares we will struggle to pay enough salary that season anyways.

Yall are being ****ing weird about salary. The Jazz will have to pay players next year. They can afford to.
They could pay good players doe. Or get assets to pay ****** ones.

I mean I guess they really like THT which is fine I guess. Would just think trader Danny would get something extra here.

This trade doesn't make much sense for us. Either cap space or draft picks and we end up with neither.

Or you could buy low on a player and let your team try to develop them...

He's 6'4 with a 7'1wingspan and still 21 years old. He plays hard and has some unique aspects to his game.

Hoarding picks has diminishing return value.

I like this deal. THT has plenty of potential and we need salary. I think he can round into a solid guard that plays good defense and can give you 12pts, 4rbs and 4asts a game.

I really only hate it because of THT’s contract situation. It’s not like he’s on a team-friendly deal with multiple years left with team control. He has a player option after this season. If he sucks he’ll opt in and we’ll be paying him too much, if he’s good, he’ll opt out and probably go somewhere else.

I would have preferred a couple second rounders to one guaranteed year of a project. Feels like we should have gotten more for Pat Bev.

This feels like a DL move and not an Ainge move.
