Cleveland Metro is like 50% black 40% white 10% other, but the state of Ohio is over 80% white non hispanic.
The differences are the amount of people. there are well over twice as many individuals that call CLE metro home, compared to SLC

But the issue is what you just outlined in the second part of your post. There needs to be repercussions for **** like that. Too much of the voting base supports him.

no way he thinks that if he has ever been there, I think the biggest benefit to athletes there, or CLE for example in his mind, is he can jog down the street and there is actually a chance nobody recognizes him and hounds him for attention.
People forget how annoying it is for a superstar or highly known person to live in society with fans constantly trolling
Yeah, but the unfortunate reality of a representative democracy is there will be fringe idiots elected every now and then.
Georgia has one, and if MTG said something stupid to a member of the Hawks, Atlanta would take none of the heat because it has a huge minority population. SLC doesn't so this stuff becomes amplified.
The hilarious part of this thread is that the dismissal of his personal experience with the BS that "this happens everywhere so stop caring and calling out Utah" is probably a big part of what drained him.
Nothing drained him. He’s using excuses to paint Donovan in the victim light. He chose to dive into everything he did. He’s actually pretty racist in his own right. I know gasp, that can’t be said. The cop thing is the weakest tea nonsense I’ve ever read.

I gotta admit that for me it’s all blow and no show and more brand recognition around the whole BLM movement than anything. But what do I know? I was cynical about Meghan Markle when I first heard about her charges on Oprah, but after episode two of the Netflix docuseries am completely in her and Harry’s corner.
Still, I hope Clarkson and the boys embarrass his *** tonight!
I'm 100% with Donovan on the racial/social justice issues stuff. Trying to take up that mantle in Utah of all places must be extremely taxing.
Overall I do think it's important that Donovan is cheered upon reception at the home game in SLC.
1. He was a great player for the Jazz
2. He did everything he needed to do (stay quiet) for Utah to get the best value they could out of him.
3. While he might have not be 100% honest, he never fully fake committed to Utah (maybe Hayward did this, or maybe DL was just ignorant)
4. With so much of Don's beef w/ Utah being racially related, and how he was treated (by some, not all) fans because of his statements, fans in attendance should cheer as to not further the narratives about Utah.

Why would anyone cheer some ******* who was happy he lost a playoff series so he could leave.
I listed 4 reasons...
None of which trump him being a jackass.
I would say that's incredibly immature to think one statement outweighs all the positive he did here, both on and off the court, and currently with what we got for him.
I would say I'm also glad the Jazz lost the Mavs series. Maybe if they win, the Jazz run it back and it's another meh season.
His one statement was him being happy the team he played for lost so he could be gone. That wouldn't be received well in any NBA city.
I mean I'm happy the Jazz lost too and that Mitchell is gone. Doesn't mean he deserves to be cheered because of it.
I didnt say it should be well received, it just doesnt outweigh everything else.
I dont expect Jazz fans to be mature, especially when it comes with an athlete who was outspoken about racism.
I don't expect any fanbase to be "mature," especially when a guy literally said "“For me, it’s just understanding, at the end of the day, they’re kind of the reason I’m in (insert current city player plays for). They did a great job in the playoff series, so, I’m thankful."
And the latter part of your post is exactly what Donovan wants to steer toward. No. I’m not cheering for him to prove how not racist we are when he acted like a clown on multiple accounts.
