Official Utah/Minnesota/Philadelphia Pick Watch

Going from 13 or 14 to 16 isn't the end of the world either. They could have made a late push and end up close to 20ish. I just really want the boost in pick odds of 2.5% or 5% to get into the top 4.
Ima push back a bit on the difference between 13/14 and 16: there’s an okay chance one of the guys we really like is available at 13/14 but I think that’s the latest that all of the Hendricks/Wallace/Dick/Black pool could be available. Feels kinda flat from there to the late 20’s to me.

I feel like there could be something to this idea, but salary matching would need to get sorted out.
Eh any deal I think will involve them trying to get out of their **** contacts. If we're interested in taking on Bertans/Bullock/THJ then we could probably make an offer, but starting next season I think we'll be looking to build more.

I think I was one of the few people who didn't really believe in the wolves being contenders this year after adding Gobert (I couldn't see gobert and KAT being a good fit) but even I had the pick being like 22 or 23.
At least you weren't @Elizah Huge, who thought they would have the best record this year. He kept saying that the Jazz helped the wolves with the trade....

The Jazz could go a lot of directions with their cap situation, and taking on bad salary to extract assets is still viable in theory. It’s not necessarily what I would be targeting, but if the Jazz can position themselves to get Hendricks AND Wallace then I think they should figure out how.

Any thoughts on what Dallas might want from us in return for their pick?
As some have mentioned KO… I could see them asking on Ochai… I think they’d also have interest in future picks or dumping salary to pursue win now options.

Say we land 16 and it’s 16 plus the 2025 Cavs pick for 10… maybe we land another second or two. I’m sure they’d love to offload Bertans but that would likely mean we send the Philly pick instead of the Minny pick.

Maybe something like the Cavs 25 pick, Lakers 27 pick, and the Philly pick for 10?

I intentionally setup overpay deals so as not to homer it up… but on draft night value on a pick can swing pretty far depending on who is sliding.

Oh it hurts… just not as bad as what we were looking at when Wolves were on a roll

I could see them wanting Sexton as well. I could also see something simple like 16 and 27 for 10… and they use one of those picks in a win now move of some sort

Or preseason when I basically guaranteed everyone the pick was going to be 28/29.
Side note... kinda... read that Athletic article about the game with Portland. It really feels like KAT is the issue. Reading the tea leaves and such. I sincerely wonder if the whole thought behind getting Rudy was that they eventually move KAT. I'm going to say there is like a 33% chance he moves this summer.

Finch said some players were in their feelings and Minnesota fans 100% think he’s talking about KAT.

KAT has also had quotes about Ant in the past that were kinda curious. I think KAT thinks this is a power struggle but everyone else already firmly in Ant's camp.

Also listened to the Minny broadcast during the Lakers game and the announcers seem to be pretty fed up with the dude's dumb mistakes. I think he is emotionally fragile and just a weirdo. I think he's gone at some point in the next 12-18 months.

It’s really their only move at this point. You aren’t going to trade Gobert. It’s the sunk cost fallacy. You obviously aren’t going to trade Edwards. You could move KAT and recoup a bunch of assets plus get some other players. The Knicks seem like a logical destination.

If the retain Naz I think it is a sign.

They also offloaded KAT's homie... so there might be some feels there too.

I would be ok taking on the Bertans contract, at least I'm pretty sure there is only one more year left on it.

1 year at 17M and one more year at 11m guaranteed... so you could do a waive and stretch on it and take a 5.5M cap hit for 5 years instead of the 17M if you wanted. That is honestly what the Mavs should do.
