Jazz trade for John Collins

I'm on and off too... just without the loss of account details... :p
I'm going to need a refund for the money I donated to your wake.

Also, I'm not buying you forgot you're password. I'm pretty sure you picked a new username to show up on all the posters who have your on block, lol.
I left when I had a mega-intense stretch of work coming up. I went on a full-on digital diet. I told my wife to change my password, refrain from telling me what it was, but to save it for some future date. She did all but the last step.

Collins is good though. I don't see why he can't have a similar breakout season like Lauri. The talent is certainly there. He was just not properly utilized ever since Trae got there.

20+10+2blocks like he did back in 2018/19 and his contract would look like a bargain all of a sudden
Apparently you haven't seen his finger.

I want to punch Trae Young in the face as much as John Collins does, and I've long been a proponent of a Collins trade, but lets be real here. Playing with Trae Young helped John Collins, they were a good basketball duo on offense.

Collins is a good (not great) player. The cost wasn't bad either. The one area I am disappointed is simply that it throws our roster WAY out of balance and leaves us limited options to correct it. We are in a great place for bigs now, but the guard positions are very weak. We have Dunn who did well for us in a small sample size, but wasn't even in the league before that. Ogbaji is athletic and can hit some open threes, but has yet to show he can create or distribute. THT has a skillset that can put up numbers on a bad team, but I don't see him as a full time starting one or two on a playoff team with how out of control he plays. We hope we can eventually turn George into a point guard, but he hasn't even played a game in the league yet and will probably have a significant learning curve. Clarkston is likely opting out and gone. The majority of our cap space is gone now. We do Have Sexton who I really like if he can stay healthy I guess.

This trade would have been a slam dunk if we had gotten Murray instead of Collins from Atlanta and still gotten the Hawks under the cap apron. I would have even added giving the Laker pick to do that deal. I just don't see who is going to bring the ball down the court and set up teammates or spread the floor.

OK, but for real, are we getting Luka or what? We have assembled the best set of complimentary players for a heliocentric superstar.....but our shinning star is.....Sexton?

Bruh, the season doesn't start tonight. Wait to see how this plays out.

I don’t think John Collins is great, but I also don’t get why people think he sucks.

He’s still decently young, and guys don’t just forget how to shoot. He had a bad year. He also played in a system that wasn’t doing him any favors. He should be able to shoot like he was before, he’s athletic, he’s got good size, and he’s got a far better coach now than he did before.

Fwiw, he shot 38% from 3 post all star break. That’s a good sign.

I wouldn’t worry too much about Hendricks. The Jazz want/need to win this season if they want OKC to get that pick (and they do). Hendricks unfortunately doesn’t help as much in that regard as Collins will. They can revitalize his career, keep him or trade him, and develop Hendricks. It’s a solid deal, no complaints.

It did but they definitely changed how he was used at some point. It may have become counterproductive once he was no longer the roll man on a space floor. I'm getting a little more on board with the deal... just need a pg that can run pick and roll... but maybe we found the way to get maximum spacing with maximum rim protection by having Collins, Lauri, and Hendricks lol.

Why would Sexton be our shining star? I have hopes for him but as of right now he's pretty low on the list of shining stars. Pretty sure Lauri is still #1 on this team.

I'm taking notes for not using the "wife recovery password" method anytime soon

How are you? Glad you are back. One of my favorite posters.
